With the impending ice storm here in eastern NC I'd like to know if there is a way to manually override the gas logs I have in my fire place. Right now there is a switch for the gas valve and another for the blower fan. In the case of a power outtage, is there a way to open the gas valve manually?

I'm sitting here looking at a start capacitor and a run capacitor for my lift (symptom indicates one is bad) and for the life of me I cannot find any marks to distinguish the anode from cathode. The terminals are exactly the same size and shape also. WTF? Any ideas on how to tell?
