    small lightweight ********** clamps

I have a few small light weight clamps such as the PONY JORGENSEN 1410, They are quite light given that they are steel/iron. The foot is probably only 3/8" diameter on them. I'm looking for something similar (1" - 1.5" throat opening) but in a deep-throat. For light duty clamping in...

Can anyone ID this air quick connect?

The metal part is 3/4" long. Diameters are: 0.72" major OD, 0.6" minor OD. 0.49" ID. The white outer is just a piece of 3/4-26 schedule 40 pipe that the quick connect has been pressed into. Can't see any markings on it. Spent some time Googling but drew a blank.

[solved] Can anyone tell me what this part is from?

It's been in my shop for years. I know I had it when I moved in 2015. in 2019 I put it into a box and marked the box WTF :D Now one could say that if I've not needed it in 6 years, then it's safe to throw out. But it's just bugging me that I don't know what it is. It looks like some...

    Bumping wanted ads

I understand disallowing replies to wanted ads and wanting people to use PM, but based on this it seems there is no way to periodically "bump" an ad so it goes back onto the first page? Sure, people can find wanted ads via searching but (I was previously a classifieds moderator on a large...

    Venting garage attic

I have a garage with a later added shop extension. See picture. The 2x4 walls are insulated as is the ceiling of the extension. The 2x6 attic floor above the original garage was partially insulated (by previous owners) with R19 in certain bays but not completely. Odd. I just finished...

    Cleaning fiberglass batt insulation

Attic above my garage. So insulation is paper side down. There was only about 60% of the surface covered by plywood and I guess sometime in the past they must have replaced the roof. As a result the insulation (R19) is pretty dirty. Shaking will remove some of the larger pieces of **** but...

    Insulation facing question

I have an garage with an uninsulated attic. Ceiling of garage is 5/8 drywall. Retractable ladder privudes access to attic above. In the attic the floor is 2x6 joists covered in plywood. Some of the bays have R19 but the install is a mix of paper down and paper up. I'm going to insulate the...

Question on mini-split line set install

I just bought a Pioneer 12k BTU mini split to install in my shop. What I'd like to do is run the lineset through the wall at ground level behind the exterior unit and then vertically inside the wall cavity up to the interior unit. However it's 2x4" construction not 2x6". Pioneer...

    Any shop tools require 120+240?

An electric clothes dryer is obviously the #1 appliance that comes to mind when thinking of something that is 240v and requires a neutral for 120v. I know lots of shop tools that require 240v (two hots and a ground) but are there any tools that require an additional neutral for simultaneous...

    AC disconnect under window?

My reading of the NEC is that an AC disconnect just needs to be "readily accessible" and less than 2 meters from ground. You can see the pad in the picture. I can't go further to left as there is a 5' from property line city requirement for the outdoor unit. The manufacturer recommends (since...

    What is this concrete board?

My shop is a 200 sq ft extension on the side of the original garage. No clue when it was put on. 1950s/1960s maybe. In the pictures you can see the level of the interior floor slab (my finger is pointing at it). Directly above is what appears to be some kind of concrete board material. In...

How to remove this 4" strip of concrete?

4" wide 10' long. You can see it's a patch. Covers existing 1/2 (data) and 3/4" (electrical) conduit. I need to replace the 1/2" with 3/4" so I can run additional data cables. What's the cleanest (and secondly; easiest) way to remove it? I'm guessing based on the fairly straight line of...

    Ceiling speakers for shop

I'm considering installing a pair of ceiling speakers into my shop above my work area. I'll setup some kind of streaming audio player (Raspberry Pi based or similar) to drive them. The shop is a 9ftx24ft extension onto the side of the existing 11ft x 24ft garage. It's all one open space...

Adapting old window a/c unit for shop use?

I'd like to add A/C to my detached shop (460 sq ft). I already have a portable Cadet "The Hot One" (http://cadetheat.info/RCP) I use for heat. The shop is packed. I don't really have room for a floor standing unit as floor space is at a premium. At least it's an option I'd like to avoid. I...

    Marson HP-2 hand riveter question

I have a Marson HP-2 hand riveter. I got it used. It's an older model, made in USA. Otherwise the same as: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00063Y1F6/?tag=atomicindus08-20 With an aluminum rivet, 5/32 size, the initial pass requires medium force. The second pass (which cuts the shank)...

Replacement blade for Data Shark PA70029 cable cutter/stripper

Has anyone figured out a source for replacement blade for the Data Shark PA70029? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HRWOTQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20 One of mine has a chunk missing. I emailed the manufacturer and despite the blades being removable via a screw, they don't sell replacement blades :D...

    Recommendation: good heat gun

Recommendation: good adjustable temperature heat gun I have a old heat gun. Temp control is getting erratic plus it's just beaten up. The Dewalt d26960 LCD looks interesting but I read some reviews that the LCD temp display was wildly inaccurate. The d26960K version with the case (I do...

Anyone have a Chicago Pneumatic CP7200 sander?

This is a specific question for someone who owns a CP7200 or has used one. In this video you can see there are markings on the rear (speed control knob) My question is, on this newer red version of the tool (in the video) does the speed control knob have limits to how far it can turn...

Generic name for optically clear plastic film?

Does anyone know the generic name for the optically clear self adhesive film that is used to make screen protectors etc? I bought a hood for use inside my welding helmet that connects to my supplied air respirator. The hood is fabric and has a clear plastic visor sewn to the fabric. The visor...
