I am not an industrial use. I have noticed that the inside of some sockets are a different color, but never paid any attention to why that may be. I choose silver because I think it is easier to see dirt and grease and keep them clean.

Lowes sells them in red and last time I checked Hansens site had some overrun Blue metrics left.

I have A Craftsman box with friction slides. I took them out of the Box and coated the rails with white lithium grease. It may be a little messy, but the drawers slide like butter now.
