    Water/rain under garage door

My Home Depot has tool rental. I know they have concrete grinding rentals. Is this what you would suggest renting? Not sure if I can set those at an angle to create the slight slope needed.

    Water/rain under garage door

It looks like the grinding disc that can attach to a grinder is about $45 at Home Depot. Never used one before so not sure how much work it would take to grind down 10ft by 5” Not a concern for me hosing out the garage or sweeping Just want to stop the water from coming in Also thought of...

    Rain/water under garage door

One side of my shop (the older side) has a single garage door which I open and close manually. It has always had a water/rain intrusion issue when we get a lot of heavy rain. Two years ago I replaced the bottom of the door seal and it didn't help much. I'm pretty sure the concrete under and on...

    Concrete stain flaking

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I've had my shop slab down for about 2 years now. A few weeks after it was poured I had concrete sealer/stain put down. Nothing special, just something to add a coating and make it a little easier to clean. One part of the slab closest to one of the bay...

Finding a house w/ suitable shop (techniques)

As others have said, patience is a key too. Took us over a year to find the right fit for us. You may also have to consider finding a house with suitable land to build the shop you want. We've been in our new place about a year now and it had a 600sqft detached garage already which I added...

    Lift placement in shop

That's a good point too. I'll have to think about that. I'm planning to get some dollys like GoJaxs if I need to move cars around. I think having access to both bays to unload a car if I want to back my car trailer in leans me more towards the lift in the back.

    Lift placement in shop

Thanks for the help and confirmation all! Yes, good advise for enough room to pull an axle! I didn't think of that! Have a great weekend.

    Lift placement in shop

I'm trying to think of the best place to place a 2 post lift in my shop. It is 40'wide by 50'long Attached are 2 pics. I'd like to also build a loft somewhere on the back wall in the future. I have an existing 600sqft garage that this new shop is jointed with so I also have a man door into the...

    New concrete...oil spot question

I used Pour N Restore that Justin sent me. Thanks! Worked well. I forgot to take a b4 pic but here is an after. There were 3 quarter size spots in the center of this pic. I had some antifreeze sit on the floor from a leaking water pump. It has dried now but left a dark spot. Should I be...

    New concrete...oil spot question

Hi all, My shop is new and the concrete mono slab is about 2 months old. I'm planning to put epoxy flooring down but am waiting till it is warmer out. I've been real careful to not get stains/oil on the floor so far however someone did drive into the garage about 2 weeks ago and some oil...

    New garage build thoughts/help/costs

I'm planning to do 4 skylights. 1 walk in door on the back side 1 14x12 rollup door For air curculation I figured I'd get some big fans. I also may add AC to the existing building since it already has heat. Then I can add some vents into the new bld for cooling. I decided to go against 2 3x5...

    New garage build thoughts/help/costs

I don't know if I have enough room to put it at the end of the drive for a few reasons. 1 being propery line and setbacks. The other is there is also about a 3-4ft berm at the back of the drive so I'd either have to make a retaining wall or stick the bld up past the berm further back...then...

    New garage build thoughts/help/costs

Updating this thread. I've decided to go with a 40x50 steel bld. I'm attaching a pic aeriel of my property. The plan is to use the exisiting detached shop as the short side of an "L" and add the new bld as the long part of the L going towads the back of the property. the 40" side of the bld...

has anyone used "PODS" or similar storage containers

We just used them a few weeks ago when we moved. We filled 3 large PODS. We paid movers to load and unload them. All the costs were explained up front. We didn't have much choice tho since we couldn't move into our new house the same day we sold the old one. First time we had used them and it...

    New garage build thoughts/help/costs

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna shop around and get some more quotes. One main reason for the move to the new house was so I could have my cars at home and stop paying monthly rental fees. However, don't think a $50K build in the cards financially right now. May have to look into a hybrid pole...

    New garage build thoughts/help/costs

Hi all, Hope everyone is having a good Friday. Last week we closed on our new house with 2.5 acres! We've been looking for over a year for a suitable house with suitable land to build a shop on for some of my classic cars. Renting space and being away from home on the weekends got to be too...
