Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

Harbor Freight hasn't sold them since they went to the Gen2 boxes. You might be able to find someone willing to sell their old one, though.

    Eastwood QST vs. Champion Advantage

Which model of the Champion Advantage? There's 5hp to 25hp models. From the Eastwood specs, you're going to get 12cfm no matter the pressure (12 cfm @ 40 psi, 12 cfm @ 90 psi). I get 17.7 cfm at 100psi and 17.2 cfm at 175psi out of my Quincy QT-5 w/ 80 gallon tank and even that needs time to...

Differences between HF 56" Series 2 boxes w/different part numbers

My store has the same setup and yes, it really shows the differences between the two. Open similar sized drawers and the top box (64456) is A LOT sturdier than the bottom box (64458). Too bad they don't have a ship to store option. Buying online and shipping it adds $100 to the cost for me -...

    Selecting a drywall mud

The "pros" are more concerned with being awarded the bid, getting things done fast, getting to the next job, and making their money. Unless it is specifically specified, they're not necessarily doing the best possible job. Yep. As I said, premix isn't the best option out there.

Differences between HF 56" Series 2 boxes w/different part numbers

I've been looking at the 44" and 56" lower cabinets and came across this thread while doing some research. I went and downloaded the manuals. Of the three 44" models, on the second page two are listed as 2640 lbs capacity and the other is 2600 lbs capacity. The 56" models are both listed as...

    Ceiling in pole barn issue

You're going to want to check with the pole building manufacturer on what the trusses will support. Many of them don't factor in dead load for a ceiling.

    Selecting a drywall mud

The powder (setting) type holds up better to temperature fluctuations in an unheated (or irregularly heated) garage.

    Advice on mezzanine shelves

Were the trusses designed to carry the extra point loads? Typically they are not.

If you buy from harbor freight tools and have your receipts....

Just received mine. I had a mixture of Option A and Option B, electing for gift cards for each. The total included about an extra 80% over what the calculations on the form said I'd get. As FastEddie mentioned, a day late to take advantage of the 25% discount too...

    Water Seeping Through Block Walls

A single wythe concrete masonry unit (CMU) wall is by no means waterproof, water resistant, or water anything... Typically you do a brick or decorative CMU veneer, insulation, air/moisture/vapor barrier, and then the CMU structural wall. Like this: If all you have is a single wythe CMU...

Whats wrong with old fashioned engraving or stamping?

Yep, some bean counter decides that saving a penny or two multiplied by the total units amounts to big money and we all suffer.

    Parts washer acquisition

Might want to wait a bit until it is fully operational. Then again, considering your commute that just might work.

    Parts washer acquisition

Picked this up the end of last year - a CUDA 2530 automatic front load aqueous parts washer. Had to play a bit of "missing tile game" to get it tucked back into the corner of the shop. It has rollers, but they're oriented to move it front to back. I have to modify them to roll side to side...

    what size crucible is good?

Until you figure out what YOU are going to cast, you'll continue to spin your wheels. A common size crucible for jewelry making is going to be much different from a common size for tool making is going to be much different from a common size for heavy equipment parts. It's like you're asking...

    what size crucible is good?

The volume of material dictates the size of the crucible to melt it in, which then dictates the size of the furnace to fit the crucible... If you're trying to figure out the size of the furnace, I'd probably at least go double the size of the volume of material I thought I needed. You can...

    what size crucible is good?

Pretty much this. A "good size" crucible for casting a couple rings or other jewelry is not going to be a "good size" for casting a door knocker or a door stop. "Common sizes" go from small to large. ;)

    what size crucible is good?

The eBay listings typically are giving dimensions and/or weight of a material (from which you can calculate volume). Figure out the volume you need, add 1/4 more, and get a crucible that will hold that volume.
