Next up, I am trying to get a HVAC guy and plumber to come out so that I can get quotes for the heating/AC and the water install.

Cutting fill pipe to oil tank?

Thanks, the tank has been removed. I just cut it with a sawzall. I had to cut the pipe because it was cemented in and could not be unscrewed from the tank. Now the tank is gone, I will see if I can get the pipe removed. I removed the outside vertical portion of the pipe, and all that is...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I have been super busy with work, taxes, etc, which has slowed me down some. I have also been working at the old shop, getting my friends to pickup all of their junk that is sitting in it. I am going to be getting a moving van and trailer sometime in the next month to move everything to the...

Cutting fill pipe to oil tank?

Is there a way to safely cut the fill pipe to a fuel oil tank for an oil burning furnace? The pipe is cemented into the wall and can't be unscrewed because of this. Sawzall with cutting fluid so it doesn't spark?

How to calculate ducting for furnace...

There is about 2' of completely open space above the drop ceiling, no firewalls, no insulation needed. I am going to continue shopping around.

How to calculate ducting for furnace...

How do you HVAC guys calculate ducting for a furnace? Is there software? For a small amount of ducting that is going above a drop ceiling in the front area of my shop, they want close to $4000. For what is pretty much a bungalow, I think the price is a little outrageous for what amounts to...

What copper line for water feed from municipal stub?

There is a $3200 connect fee from the municipality. Luckily the previous owner already paid the $76 per foot of frontage charge for the water main (I have 110ft frontage). I am responsible for the line from the stub to the meter, then from the meter to the internal plumbing. I am located in...

What copper line for water feed from municipal stub?

Had the utility mark the stub as the shutoff was buried....find a problem, of course. Its pointing right at my septic bed, so I am going to have to go around it. That makes the run right around 75'. Good thing they make 100ft rolls, but man is it not cheap. I figure going to municipal...

What copper line for water feed from municipal stub?

I am putting my new place on municipal water, and the stub is about 40 feet in front of the place. It was strongly suggested by the municipality that I run copper line and need to know what type of line I need. It needs to be buried about 5 feet down due to frost and is 3/4" feed. I am going...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

Old house closes tomorrow, then I can pay everything off. I really have to start organizing the shop so I can get the pallet racking up and paint the floor. Right now the place is just a disaster....

    30x50 vs 40x40?

My shop is 40x40 and I love it. I can park two cars double deep and still have room for pallet racking, but it is tight and the cars are nose to tail. The cars I tried it with are a 67' Plymouth and an 87' Olds - neither one small cars.

Beware of "Call before you dig"

I worked at a chemical plant about a decade ago. I was there one day and we called the call before you dig guys because we were increasing security after 9/11 and putting up a fence and guard shack, and it was a rainy, cold miserable day. They came and marked a water line, telephone line, and...

Let's See Your Snow Moving Equipment...

I have a friend with a couple of Jeep J10's with Western plows. He finally had to retire his old blue one he bought new in 1975, and has been plowing commercially almost since new! Body was rotted to death and the frame finally rotted out. So what does he do? Buys another identically...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

More pics will be coming after I finish moving! The place is full of boxes right now, and I am only currently moving my house. I did get the frozen pipe fixed at least. I figure I will get the house stuff put away just in time to paint the shop floor and get the racking up to move my old...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I have gotten the old place for sale as of yesterday and am getting plenty of interest, and apparently have an offer coming it. Being how fast it came in, I bet it is a low ball offer from a flipper, but you never know. As soon as the old place is sold I can finally put some real attention...
