    220 on 100 amp service?

Why not see if a dual lug meter socket is acceptable code in your area? That way no futzing with the panel in the house. Trench in new wiring to a 100A panel in the garage, Bob's your uncle. Here's mine: Oh, and if you cut the meter tag, you may have the cops there, as grow ops usually steal...

    Wiring question [Detached Garage]

Does your code allow a dual-lug meter socket? That way you run a second panel directly from your meter, removing the lading from the house panel. The wires exiting on the bottom left go to a 100A service in my detached garage. Forgot to add - My house panel is 200A with a 200A meter socket...

    Floor Coating Problem........

Edit: Diamond grinding is probably your best bet at this point for removing the old ****. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I come from 15 years experience in the architectural and industrial coatings market as both a chemist and inside sales rep. The mechanical stress from driving...

    The "Area 51" Garage

Well, I'm back working on the garage. Here's the start of the 2nd insulation layer. There will be another layer of foam, plus Prodex: Here's some framing for the workshop/loft area. The workshop is about 8 by 18. The large opening is for double 28" doors, so I can wheel my table saw into the...

Metal building insulation in Texas climate

You may want to consider Prodex: http://www.insulation4less.com/ I bought some, will be putting it up this summer. I'm building the "Area 51" garage, I have a thread in the garage gallery section. I think it would work really well for a hot climate. Radiant heat is the big killer in steel...

The new guy would love some advice.

I agree on the no wall between. I would also consider a 2nd floor drain in the single-car area. Looks like a perfect wash bay..

The new guy would love some advice.

I'm no expert here, but the above quote got my spidey senses tingling, it's NEVER cheaper to do something after the fact, unless they're doing it to avoid inspections, or something. I'd get a quiet second opinion on that one...

    Installing a sub panel

I don't know if your setup and code allow, but have you thought of using a dual-lug meter hub? That way you keep the wiring outside, and don't put a load on your main panel.
