    Caster recommendation for workbench

Thinking fairly seriously about getting 4 trailer jacks with wheels on them for my bench, so I can put the legs down when I don't want to move it and put the jacks on a shelf somewhere.

Gray Tools (CANADA) in Maclean's Magazine

Davis & Davis in Napanee had a good selection and reasonable prices last time I was in

Support column in middle of garage/shop

Would be a good excuse to buy a lift to put one post beside the support, if that works with your layout

Got all kinds of rolls around, barb wire, brace wire, black wire, electric fence wire, clothesline, 3-4 different sizes of hose for liquid fertilizer, 2-3 different sizes of wire rope, nylon rope, electrical wire - most not on spools, just rolled and hanging on a nail. Anybody got any neat cheap...

    What is this?

Found this in a job lot of mostly machinist tools and I've never come across one, what's it for/how does it work?

Most useful tool that you didn't realize you needed

Depends what he does. Most useful tool I've found recently is a Husqvarna Sharp Force file/guide for my chainsaws. Wish I would have found it long ago. Otherwise the ones that have surprised me are telescoping magnet/probes and extra magnetic trays.

3-1/2" vs 5-1/2" vise- which is better?

Put the Craftsman away until you have a bigger shop. Can't believe anyone would consider selling a vise short of needing to pay for a kidney transplant or something

    Small toolbox organization

Why not use magnets for socket rails? Or stick a magnetic sheet in the bottom of the tray for your sockets.

    Shooting Skunks.

Dang it here I thought this was a thread about skanks.... Got 20 traps out after *****, they're hitting the corn pretty hard, got a few skunks as well. 10' aluminum pole, and a tarp, and a trough of water works good. The ride home with a tarp-wrapped trap in the back of the truck is fun

HOA says "No" to external toolshed. What to do?

I'm in the same direction as Eagle Point but farther.... build an underground bunker for all your storage needs. Clearly not a shed, the top can be used as a patio, and even if they do still want to complain they won't be 100% sure you haven't filled it with guns and ammo....

What would you use a Leeson 1/2hp 1725 rpm 8.8 amps motor for?

I'd put it on a grain auger I have sitting around with no motor on it. But that's me.

    Shop for tractor repair

Depends what you're working on and what size. My "shop" is 25x35 and I only have one tractor and a couple of smaller pieces of equipment that would ever fit inside to work on. Anything else gets done outside, the loader tractor is the hoist, the shop is for tools and parts. Couple of good heavy...

need help with roof trusses replacement

For a pole barn that small, and with heavier equipment around, I'd be tempted to raise the building. Just take enough siding off to get access to the poles, cut them off with a chainsaw, and go around with a loader or forklift and lift each pole up 4-6" at a time, put in a spacer, and nail some...
