My M18 batteries are old and flakey. I bought the batteries, charger and recip saw at Home Depot for a total of $200. Considering the saw itself is $129 I think it was a good deal.

How to get highest CFM from T30 234

The 234 was designed for 2 or 3HP operation. It turns at ~1000 RPM with a 3HP motor. IR used a 5HP motor and spun it up to ~1500 RPM so they could have a cheap 5HP machine to sell at Home Depot and Northern Tools. Call your local IR distributor and have them send you the engineering data pages...

I think that we have different definitions of the phrase "hot sun." You're in MA? What is it, 70F today? Here's the weather today in Houston: I tell all of my friends, family and business colleagues to not bother coming here between the middle of May and September. It is just downright...

How to get rid of mold in the caulking of my shower?

Personally, I'd skip the bleach as it doesn't actually kill the mold and if not used carefully the fumes can overcome you. After removing the old caulk, clean and treat the area using a product called Concrobium. It is a pretty environmentally safe product so it should be available in the...

I bought a set of the Mac locking hose clamp pliers off of eBay for 20% less than new, and as near as I can tell they haven't been used much, if at all. I also bought a $12 multimeter that I can take to the salvage yard with me. It isn't fancy but it works great.

I am just a DIYer as well and I bought the Titan set of "seal spoons" from O'Reilly Auto. I use them all the time, but almost never to remove seals and o-rings. They are great for prying up things like plastic locks on electrical fittings and interior trim pieces. I highly recommend them.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Removed and replaced the oil cooler and transmission cooler lines on the Yukon. It wasn't too bad of a job, just messy.

Blue Flame on air compressor motor

Now you know the meaning of the phrase, "The motor let the smoke out." The capacitors are toast. It should be a pretty easy and inexpensive fix. You'll need to read the labels of the capacitors and match them up to get the proper replacements.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I bought a $40 folding mirror motor from Aliexpress and replaced the failed part on my Yukon. I managed not to break any plastic so that's a win right there!

Why are old Craftsman Professional screwdrivers so expensive?

People really are nuts about the old Craftsman stuff. Several years I found a really old Craftsman "butterfly" ratchet at an estate sale for about $15. I put it up on eBay and it sold for ~ $100+. I received a message from the buyer asking me how I was going to pack it. He wanted me to pack the...

Help using this weird space in my garage ?

6 inches isn't much depth, is it? May be a good place to install shelfs to store canned items like WD40, spray paint, oil, etc.

Pressure bleeder for new GMs (and maybe others)

I have the Motive unit as well and have used it with multiple GM products (2011+) with no issues at all. The aluminum #0118 cap seals just fine. Motive Black Label GM

Will a 15cfm refrigerated dryer + particulate filter be all I need to paint?

Does the compressor have an aftercooler? If not, then that dryer will not work. The dryer is sized for an inlet temperature (IAT) of 100F. If the IAT is above that then the dryer will not deliver moisture-free air.

    T21 ingersoll Rand compressor

That is a single-stage aluminum pump. There was nothing special about it. I'm pretty sure that IR stopped making replacement parts and compressors for that model. I'd move along and find something else, especially for the price.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My pool pump has been making some really bad noise. I turned the speed down on the motor and "limped" it for a week while I gathered bearings and a seal. It wasn't too bad of a job. I spent $45 on parts versus ~$750 for a new motor and drive assembled. Surprisingly, it was the rear bearing that...
