Cheap socket set for vacation house?

Home Depot had a Dewalt 3/8” drive SAE/metric set on sale today for $23. I’ve seen similar pricing before today. By the time I was able to go back to the site the set was sold out. HD runs these specials quite a bit.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I fixed some plastic screw holes with a combination of JB Plastic Weld, superglue and baking soda. I've never used baking soda with superglue but it sure worked! I was able to reconstruct a missing mount and reinforce the repair. I drilled a pilot hole and screwed the parts together with no issues.

I wish that our auto parts stores in the USA had Gedore and Hazet on the shelf! We mostly get Chinese products of varying quality.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

I had a Lowes’ employee tell me that they didn’t carry Kobalt. I’m like, ah, yes, you do. The clerk checked with a manager and then told me to go to the shelf and get a new tool set (it was a saw handle with multiple blades). They removed the handle from the new set and handed it back to me...

Do We Have a Preferred Small Engine Parts Source Online?

I've used Plano Power Parts for a few orders and have had zero issues. They communicate very well and even called me when a part was not available.

    The Facom Tools Thread.

This is the only Facom tool that I own. I found it at a yard sale for less than $5. It doesn’t get much use, but it does seem to be of fairly good quality in terms of fit and finish.

10 HP, Ingersoll Rand Type 30 Model 71T2

It should be around 35 CFM at 125 PSIG. They are great compressors. They aren’t made anymore but you should be able to still get parts for them. I’d call my local distributor and see if they can send you the engineering data sheets. My memory is fuzzy, but I think 10HP is the minimum horsepower...

I know SO charges a premium for their products, but $61/each for a 1/4-inch drive Torx bit socket is outrageous, even with a built-in universal joint!

How important is an asme rated air compressor tank?

I’d be shocked if there were any air compressors for sale in this litigious country that didn’t have an ASME tank. If the tank is considered a pressure vessel- and most tanks rated for higher than 15 PSIG would be- then it will have an ASME stamp. I’ve been in the compressor industry for...

IR 234 pump specs and parts?

The 234 and 2340 are close relative, but not the same. They’re both designed for 3HP but IR runs them faster so as to have a cheap consumer offering at 5HP. I have a 2340 and put a new motor pulley on it so that it turns at the 3HP RPM. Go to Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Distributor Finder...
