Check/Crack in 6x6 wood column supporting large glu-lam

stay away from lags, thru bolts would be better at anchoring the split together. I wouldn’t go drilling a bunch of holes into an already questionable structural component. wait for the engineer to answer, mountain out of mole hill???

2" foam board insulation under lift post???

I don’t understand why some of you are saying not to use the insulation under the lift. You trust the insulation to support the building plus everything inside of it but not the lift? Also, why insulate the concrete if you are going to leave gaps? isn’t that defeating the purpose of the insulation?

    Stain for Exterior Door

I just refinished a painted door from a door shop flooded during Katrina, after all the sanding, I stained and used the 6 coats recommended by MinWax for their spar urethane. The pump assembly mounted to the HF old assembly with a little drilling of the flanges and I ordered a big B&M trans cooler to go between the...

    Re-purpose small air compressor

I had the same air compressor as a teen in my Dad’s shop. It started to leak from pin holes in the bottom and he asked me if I wanted it. Of course I said yes because the HF one was loud. The second the HF one died the BlackMax motor and pump went onto the HF tank.
