Needed- Garage door needs seal. Floor is out 6" over 12ft

How close does the bottom of the door come to hitting the header/jam at the top of the opening? If you have room you can screw what ever you want to make up the space, shut the door and scribe it. Remove it and cut along the line with a circular saw and add a seal to the bottom, then screw it...

If you have a sink all you need is a red Solo cup, piece of 3 inch PVC and a bracket.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Received this bench top lathe from my SIL for Christmas. After picking it up in September at a yard sale he did as much as possible to make it as tight as possible, installed a DC treadmill motor and controller he made so it is now variable speed. He also made a new dial on the crosslide that...

    Favorite construction screw head design

I hate square drive, we've been stuck with those at work for years. You always want to make sure you have a worn out bit when removing them or the screw gets stuck on the bit so bad you have to pound it on a hard surface to get it off the bit. Torx are good for a lot and the new screws are...

Ice building up under outside unit

I thought heat pumps automatically go to electric heat (element) when they can't keep up in heat pump mode. Our temps have been in the low twenties/high teens until today our high is 5 degrees. This is a pretty new heating system. The ice is defiantly from it going into defrost mode. Now...

Ice building up under outside unit

My neighbor keeps going out with a weed burner and melting the ice that's built up under his outside heating unit. Is this something that happens and it won't be a problem or is there something wrong with the unit? See picture.

    Raccoon poop

I know a couple in Portland Oregon that lost their little girl because she came in contact with Raccoon ****. The parasite got into her brain, by the time they figured out what the problem was it was too late. You can also do a search on it...

What building technique for a attached garage?

I actually did a 26x30' addition to my 26x26' existing attached garage. Here's the plan for the garage ceiling, the blank space on the bottom right are the stairs to the second story. The thing sticking out the top is a cantilevered deck.

Drip edge and Fasica board- add a gap?

I had the same problem, when I went from those crummy plastic gutters to the seamless gutters I put a bead of caulk on the metal drip edge, it's on the bottom side where the shingles end. It totally fixed it. To give the caulk something to stick to I used a scotch brite pad on the drip edge.

    Fiber pull in 3/4 conduit

I go out a couple times a year to re-splice ends on pre-terminated fiber because the ends were damaged while the cable was pulled in. People don't understand how easy the ends will break off if the fiber is kinked. If you have a compressor in the shop you can blow a string through with a piece...

    garage extension options

Do what Stuart said and only make it 12' out toward the driveway. Add a living space above the addition and call that the den and run the garage clear to the back of the house. Put the washer, dryer and sink in the garage. My attached garage is 26x56' and it's great.
