    Plywood Or Melamine Or...?

Built these out of melamine maybe 20 years ago. I would have to clean the paint off them with lacquer thinner but have taken a lot of abuse. BTW the first picture is before we added onto the garage.

Take the rack off, drill holes from the bottom through the plastic into the nut and insert pins/screws into the holes and hope it holds the nut.

    Box cutters versus utility knives?

Here's a picture of a picture, the pickup, had a 67 LTD front clip, fiberglass one-piece front end and a diamond tuck bed. 289ci c4 out of the LTD, and also a 1956 grille. The first picture is before I narrowed up the rear end housing. BTW that's my daughter who is now 40 years old.

    Is my socket drawer wormy?

I bet that half inch ratchet was purchased in the late 60s, wait until some of the guys see the selector on the 3/8s ratchet. It broke off one day so I made a new one.

    Is my socket drawer wormy?

Most of the work I do is on 60s and early 70s Ford cars and I have this hodgepodge of sockets. I made this to hold the sockets I use the most, each row is a size. At the bottom of the picture are the metric sockets I use the most. It's 16 gauge sheet metal with steel rod dowels which are tig...

    Need a New Lawn Mower

Personally I would buy this off Craigslist and fix it, it may just have dirt in the gas and it's plugging up the main jet in the carb. I bought one in 1988 ($488) and it still runs and mows really nice. It has an aluminum deck so it does not rust. I did finally have to install new rings and...

need a brite compact flashlight for welding

What helmet are you using, I went from a sub $100 welding helmet to a over $300 Speedglas and it's amazing how well I can see. Even before it darkens I can see a lot better. Before I got this helmet I was going to mount a good headlamp to the top of my old one.

Best AC Mini Split 18,000 BTU for DIY???

I installed a 24000 BTU Mr Cool, it was easy. It isn't as quit and refined as the Mitsubishi's we have but for the garage/shop they're great. If you mount the outside unit to the wall make sure it's a place you don't spend any time on the inside. It makes an annoying noise inside the shop. I...

positioning of mini split in garage shop

This, I feel it really matters how hard it has to work and the model. Our Mitsubishi's is a nice gentle breeze in our house but standing in front of the Mr. Cool in the shop is not a place you want to be for very long.

    Aids for Lifting Heavy Items

As said before a folding engine hoist is handy, made mine so I can install a set of steerable pneumatic tires on it so it can be taken off road. I used it to lift a 75 pound hood and install doors.

    Separating spot welds non-destructively?

1/2 x 18" air belt sander, takes seconds and doesn't leave a hole. One of the most versatile tools you can have.

    Roofing costs ridiculous?

My neighbor just had his done last week, one man did it in 3 days (maybe less the guy was an animal), took off the old roofing and underlayment. Installed new sheathing where it was needed, $6700. I went up and looked and it's straight and I can't see any signs of bad workmanship.

    Closing in a carport

I've had this inclosed carport for years. A lot of city inspectors have been on the property because of other projects and not a word was said. Those poor doors are from the late 70s.
