Questions about prep, finishing, edging for VCT

Tommy, that particular product was never offered to me by my local dealer. He said that the S-750 was perfect for my application. Typical weather in these parts tends to be hot and dry. The S-750 took about 4 hours to turn clear after I trowelled it on (the indication that you can begin to...

Questions about prep, finishing, edging for VCT

I use a 1/4" piece of metal under jack stands and the jack wheels, especially in the warmer weather, slices of carpet remnants under the tires for winter storage. I didn't the first time for a 2 minute job and the jack wheels left slight indentations which eventually disappeared. As I have...

Questions about prep, finishing, edging for VCT

Like Joe, my install is about 6 months old. Summer temperatures around these parts can routinely hit 95-100+ degrees. Even with sticky high performance tires I have had no tile lifting. I continue to use the Armstrong cleaning/polishing products as they work well and are easy to use. Right...

Questions about prep, finishing, edging for VCT

Armstrong transition strips will do a nice job in filling the area between your laneway and the edge of the VCT tiles. http://www.armstrong.com/commflooringna/article14065.html I used the VT8. Here is the story of my Armstrong VCT install. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/281382/14

How did you prep. floor for VCT tile?

I did mine in early July and am pleased with the results and total cost. Mine is a play garage as opposed to a working man's garage. I have no heavy machinery, welding equipment and doubt that any serious "mechanicing" will take place (I wouldn't have a clue how to do it).:wtf: I did notice...

How did you prep. floor for VCT tile?

I did the muriatic acid and rinse, rinse, rinse prep. Keep your boxes of tiles (open) in the sunshine right up to application, much easier to cut and also to lay down. If its a windy day you may need to take precautions regarding little bits of stuff attaching themselves to your adhesive...

Epoxy-Coat Project Start - Prep Questions

I would do the painting, at least the ceiling, before you start the floor. Saves a lot of hassle later.

There will be a "dent" on the tiles from jacks and jackstands unless you spread the load over a larger imprint area. A few sheets of thin metal or some washers work well.

    Where to get VCT?

Sometimes its just the convenience as I've found that the Big Box Stores carry more product. The strictly flooring places I visited would have had to order in the tiles I wanted.

One option, you can buy 100' rolls of rubber moulding in various patterns and use contact cement (glue) to attach it to your concrete base. See these photos http://miata.cardomain.com/ride/281382/14

    Armstrong VCT Project Completed

I went to my local flooring dealer to buy some more Armstrong polish and was told that they will no longer be able to get the gloss finish. Apparently Armstrong isn't manufacturing it anymore. Only a satin finish will now be available. Have any of our American pals had trouble obtaining the...

    Armstrong VCT Project Completed

Glenn, I dealt with a local flooring company for the small stuff like primer, adhesive, transition strips and tool rental. They were most helpful. I purchased my tiles from big box stores, due mainly to the availability and price. The colours I used were classic black and sterling.

Removing orange tire stains on VCT

Heat is critical but also score the edges of the tile(s) to be removed with a utility knife before you start the removal process or else you may find adjoining tiles want to lift as well.

Armstrong VCT - Where to buy?

I purchased mine from Home Depot and Rona (a Canadian version). For some reason Home Depot was back ordered 6 weeks with no resolution in sight on the "Sterling" colour so I drove across town to Rona and snapped up all they had in stock - same price.

    Armstrong VCT Project Completed

I sure hope so. Traditionally we get mild and short winters here in the vallley. The Armstrong Rep. claims that there are many VCT shod garages around the area and all are coping quite well. Mine is about 550 sq. feet and well insulated with a great deal of southern exposure. Since the...

    Armstrong VCT Project Completed

For the past 8 months I have been following along on this site in order to choose the garage flooring that best suited my situation. Armstrong VCT seemed the ideal fit. My main concern was the staining of tiles where rubber meets flooring. Therefore my design incorporates two 6' X 12' patches...
