Yeah I didn’t even weld with them today, just put them on and tried to use my hands and I already prefer them over the Hobart gloves I have.

Some things showed up from Cyberweld.com. Super excited to try these Black Stallion BM88 MIG gloves. No pictures, but I also had my metal thickness gauge, some 0.024” MIG wire, a nylon brush, 1/2” dr. 3/8” shallow socket and 1/2” dr. 5/8” deep well to replace my missing sockets show up today as...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Drilled some holes in my steel plate that showed up the order day and laid out all the markings for the placement of the 4” square tubing I’m waiting on and where the gussets are gonna go. And then installed the casters to clear some room off the shelf.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Took some steel plate that showed up today inside and marked it up so I could drill it for casters tomorrow. Gonna be my bench grinder and belly sander mounts whenever my 4” tubing shows up.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

24 ft outdoor lights are a pass. They're obviously not bright because they aren't meant for that. But they seem to hold up well so far despite me dropping them, and the mounting holes at each light are the perfect size for a #10 woodscrew. And they look good, and come with extra bulbs.

    autodarkening welding helmet does not

Just go with the nuclear option, buy a third helmet, and between the Speedglass 9100XX, the Esab A50, or the Miller Digital Elite.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Put my engine on the stand just to realize that I’m gonna take it off tomorrow to go back to the machine shop to get the freeze plugs installed that I paid for.

Got a US General 5 drawer mechanics cart, Icon 1/4” drive ratchet to try out, and then from Northern Tool, I got a Nicholson ******* mill file (disappointed to see Made in Mexico, all the ones I got a few years ago we’re still marked Made in USA), some Stihl file handles (made for their chainsaw...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Put together my new tool cart I bought to make more room (yes that’s counterintuitive but it makes perfect sense). Then moved some stuff around to fit the three boxes against the back wall again. Now my engine sits flat against the back wall. So I ended up with a little more room. Edit: Not...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Greased the wheel sleeves on my engine stand so it stops squeaking whenever I move it.

    1961 F100 4WD project

Looking good. The sheet metal work looks good for not having any experience. As a fellow Ford guy, I’m definitely have to follow along with this.

    Dry Cut Metal Chop Saw

So I ended up going with the S355CPSL. It seemed to be the best balance of performance, features, and cost. It should be here mid January. Hopefully I’ll get to try it soon after.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Practiced some welding while my wife and kid were down for a nap. And then my Dewalt tool mounts got delivered, found 10 for $35 shipped on FB marketplace. Some chick 3D prints them so I figured I’d give them a try. Managed to break one. So now all my Dewalt power tools are on the end of my...

    Show us your welding projects

Not really a project but more of my practice piece. Just two I beam pieces I welded together when I first got my Hobart. Today I went out and got some quality time with my new Miller 211. Messed with the settings and ran a bunch of beads. Also had a piece of 1.5” angle iron that I’ve had for 6...

    Dry Cut Metal Chop Saw

So the big abrasive wheels similar to a grinders cut off wheel requires more RPM, around 3000-3500rpm IIRC. The dry cut saws run around 1400-1500rpm and use the fancy metal blades. Even though the blades are more expensive, they last longer. I remember at my old job, we had the old Dewalt chop...

    Dry Cut Metal Chop Saw

This is the main reason I personally am choosing to buy a dry cut saw over an abrasive saw. Just for the simple fact that there’s almost no dust is enough of a reason. Plus the chips are easier to contain and clean up compared to grinding dust.

The wife bought me an extra 3.0AH Dewalt battery. Been trying to stock up since I went 5 years with just 2 1.5AH batteries. Up to 3 now, still need some 5 or 6AH batteries. Also had some scotchbrite wheels and flap wheels show up for my die grinder.
