    Welding jacket for tall guys

So I now have two welding jackets. One Hobart and one showed up today that I ordered. It’s a Revco 2XL BSX Flame-Resistant Welding Jacket, BXRB9C. Once again the problem I run into is that at 6’2” and 260 pounds, the 2XL is the right size as far as chest measurements go, but the sleeves and body...

How do you mechanics up north stay warm???

When I was working nights north of Albany in January and February this year, it was getting down to about -10* to -15* not including the windchill. Plus we were working in a metal building that had the roof removed because we were working with a crane for most of the nights. As a supervisor and...

It wasn’t an issue with the arc. But the infinite voltage control was definitely an improvement. There was quite a few times that 4 was too cold and 5 was too hot with the 190 for example. Plus now I have the Autoset and dual voltage. Plus I kinda settled when I bought the 190 anyway cause I...

26” or 44” top chest on 44” roller

So I have a 44” bottom box with a 26” sitting on top. I like it cause it has space on the side for bigger items that don’t necessarily need their own drawer.

Millermatic 211 auto set, older style

Not sure if you have your own bottle already, although it seems like you might since you already have a Handler 140, but you can get a brand new inverter based 211 for a few hundred more. If he’s asking $1000, that’s what I would do. Especially if you have a decent relationship with your LWS, I...

You’re damn right it is. I just wish I would’ve bought it in April instead of spending 8 months messing with the Hobart, not saying the Hobart is a bad machine or anything though. Although I do wish I could’ve found a better matching yellow.

Made a new front foot for my engine stand. The original was too wide for me to run the stand under my hoist far enough mount an engine easily. So I made a new one that’s 6” narrower. Loving the Autoset on my new Miller 211.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Fabbed a new front mount for my engine stand. The one that came with it was too wide so I built a new one that’s 6” narrower so my engine hoist can actually reach the mounting plate. Gave me a chance to do a little welding with my new Miller 211. Autoset is awesome and this thing is honestly...

    Welding Bottle Prices

That’s what Airgas quoted me when I needed to buy a 80 cu ft bottle earlier this year. I ended up with a bottle from a much smaller outfit and only paid $246 for the bottle and a free fill. And each refill is $39(?) I believe. Don’t know yet since I haven’t needed to get it refilled yet.

    MiG wire brands...

I’ve been running the Harris and Hobart ER70S through my Handler 190. Never had any issues with either of those brands and expect the same results or maybe a little better when I run it through my new 211.

    Hobart HH140 vs Miller 211 vs 215

If you stick weld every so often, the 215 is worth it. Either way, you can’t go wrong with the 211 or the 215. I have a HH190 that’s great, it’s way better than the 120v machines I’ve used before, but if I could’ve afforded the extra $600 to the 211, I’d of bought that just for the auto set...
