What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Stored this stuff I was given tonight. I’ve mentioned before that my grandfather was a machinist by trade and I inherited most of his tools. Well tonight we went to visit my grandma and she gave me a few items that were left. 7th Edition American Machinist handbook that originally belonged to my...

    Recommend a welder for me

So when I bought my tank in April, I bought the 80 cf as that was the largest tank that the welding supply shops around me sell, anything bigger is rental only. I thought I paid $240 for the bottle and fill, and anytime I need more, I can trade it at any welding supply shop for the cost of a...

What's your go to ratchet and why?

Back when I used personal tools at work on ships, it was the Craftsman Premium 80 tooth 1/2” dr. But now that most of my use is at home, I almost always grab my Armstrong Maxx 11-992 3/8” dr. Love that thing.

    Recommend a welder for me

As far as helmets go, I grabbed an Instapark ADF GX990T and it’s been great. 1/25000th of a second reaction time for the auto darkening, battery life has been great so far. I think it was $80 on Amazon with great reviews. And for gloves, I have some short/midlength Hobart Mig gloves that...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Finally removed the forms from where I poured concrete on Thursday and then moved some thing around to take advantage of my new floor space. It seems so much roomier in there since I can roll things through the whole garage.

My copper welding spoon with 3 different heads came in today. Also should have a magnetic copper plug weld tool and oil filter cutter being delivered today.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Finally welded in a patch panel in the floor of my F150. Good grief, I really need to practice welding sheet metal if I’m gonna do anymore body myself. The welds look like straight trash. Didn’t realize I didn’t have enough gas flow at first and kept blowing through as well as having the puddle...

    Recommend a welder for me

I’d grab a Hobart 210, gives you the option of 120/240 and can be had for less than $900, which is pretty good if you ask me. I bought a 190 earlier this year, and I sometimes wonder when I didn’t spend the extra $100. Like someone else said, nobody has ever complained that their welder was too big.

It's finally mine!!!! Now to make it nice

Well it’s been a long time since I updated this. Kinda forgot I even had a thread. It only took 5 years, almost to the day since I moved in, but I finally had concrete poured from inside the garage to the rest of my driveway.

A couple small things from HF and the NAPA store, plus I finally decided to splurge a little and grabbed one of the much raved about Daytona jacks. It was hard not to when it’s marked down to $119 from $148.

Finished setting forms and grading for 3 yards of concrete, hopefully getting poured later this week.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Dug out the front of it for concrete next week......in the rain...... like an idiot because today and tomorrow are my only days off. So now, at least for the time being, I have waterfront property. But, hopefully before thanksgiving, I’ll finally have a complete level, non dirt floor in my...

Help me pick a tool box

I vote HF all day, everyday for a budget friendly toolbox. I love my 44". Mine has a 26" Grey and Red Craftsman box from the 70's on top (makes for an interesting looking combo), but I'm actually considering picking up a 26" top and bottom set from HF for more space, but don't mistake my last...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yesterday I “upgraded” my engine stand. Welded on a piece of 1/4” angle iron up front perpendicular to the center beam so it now has 4 casters welded to it instead of 3. Today, I assembled my new HF 1 ton engine hoist, also carried in the block and the rotating assembly for a Ford 302 I picked...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Well my dad came over and I fixed his squeaking serpentine belt. Then welded some bracing under the truck so his running board on the driver side wasn’t loose. Wouldn’t be a problem if dodge has thought of a better design. After that, I removed some iron shafts from some golf clubs to get ready...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cleaned out one toolbox and got everything into the other two. Just need to sell/scrap the empty one to make room for a 26” HF box. Also spent about a half hour so welding on some scrap. Not every pass is pretty but I can see there’s some decent penetration and they’re some decent welds.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Yeah just like a few people said before me, it hits the door but you can fix it with a piece of plywood. I just haven’t done it yet.
