What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: What did you do "IN" your garage today? I appreciate the kind words s. Yeah I wanted to grind it all but my haste got the best of me since my wife was on the way home with my son so I just wanted to get some beads down. Hopefully this weekend, I’ll have time to grind the whole...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Finally got a chance to practice some welding with my new Handler 190. Had a piece of 1/4” ibeam and 5/16” ibeam to weld on. Did a few passes on the flat portions and then decided to weld them together best I could despite the heights being different. There were real bubble gum welds but after...

    Milwaukee vs. DeWalt Cordless Systems

Im a Dewalt guy mainly because my dad was a Dewalt guy so was invested in Dewalt before I realized that Milwaukee had so much. But really, for what I use my tools for now, mainly home improvement, not making a living with them, the Dewalt is plenty for me and seems to be cheaper than Milwaukee...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Started cleaning out the garage to make it easier to organize all the stuff I have, make room for more stuff I actually need, and hopefully conference from 3 top and bottom toolbox sets to 2.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

I didn’t review the whole thread to see if it was already in here but the Basic Welding cart, the one with 3 shelves total and no handle- pass and fail. If you’re looking for a cheap welding cart, it’s fine and it gets a pass there for overall function. The fail portion is the hardware that came...

As requested, bud. Handler 190 and 80 cu. ft. tank (behind the welder) on a HF basic welding cart I picked up today. I may buy or build a nicer cart down the road.

I’ll see if I can get some pics tomorrow. I actually grabbed this one for 663 on amazon, but I had about 300,000 Hilton points which meant the welder itself only cost me $104 out of pocket. Made it a lot easier to go ahead and buy my own bottle and new mask. And how worth it were those classes...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Ran some 10/2 for a dedicated 30A welding circuit for my Hobart Handler 190 which showed up today (a day early) so I started setting that up. Plus finished assembling a small generator for my dad.

No pics as my phone was dead but my Hobart Handler 190 and Instapark ADF GX990T welding mask were delivered today. Also purchased an 80 cu. ft. tank with 75/25 Ar/CO2 and then while picking up the materials to run a dedicated 230V circuit for the welder, I grabbed a Klein AC/DC Voltage Tester.

    Valve Spring Compressor?

Yeah I’d love to spend the money on an air powered one, but I hope to not have to do this more than once or twice. Plus, I’m not sure when I’ll be doing this. I still gotta but the valve springs I need :lol_hitti

    Valve Spring Compressor?

Heads are in good condition. Seats have already been lapped when I first got them, plus new Viton seals. I just changed my plans for the engine they’re going on so the springs won’t support the amount of lift I’m going with. @ShadowDog500, I’ll check out that Gearwrench compressor. And the...

    Valve Spring Compressor?

Getting ready to rebuild a 302 to go in my ‘84 F150 and I’m looking for opinions for a valve spring compressor since my springs need to be replaced to handle cam lift. What is recommended for a heads-off type? I found one on amazon for around $50 but had mixed reviews.

Got a $50 Harbor Freight gift card for Christmas so I figured it was as good a time as any to get some metric sockets. Grabbed their 1/4” Metric shallow and deep well and 1/2” metric shallow and deep well sockets. Also snagged a 1/4” fire grinder to try. For $13, I won’t be too mad if it breaks.

How does your Socket top drawer look ?

My top drawer. SAE on the right, Metric on the left. Obviously need to fill in the metric side.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Taped all the holes on a pair of cylinder heads sitting on my bench and swapped the non tilt steering column into my ‘84 F150. Two less things on the long long list of things that truck needs.

    What's on your Christmas list?

Hobart Handler 190. If I can sell my old Bronco this weekend, it’ll be my early Christmas present to myself.
