    The Heritage of Millers Falls

I know what you mean. I posted some pics of some old woodworking tools I had gotten from my friends father and they didn't stir up to much interest. That is a very nice plane there Elroy. I find it interesting that their numbering system is different than Stanley's. That would be about a No. 4...

    Job/Workplace pictures

I work in the main shop which is basically everything. We don't really specialize, although I like electrical. Right now I mainly take care of our rental equiment, rebuild cylinders, and do whatever work we can get in the door. Until I get more experience and build up a trust with my shop...

    Job/Workplace pictures

It was in for a paint job. That's it. I think there might have been a few minor repairs done on it, but not much. It is disassembled like that for shipping purposes. We had another in after that that was going out on a 50 ton lowboy. It was going out of state so we had to take the tracks off...

    wright tools

I would not hesitate to buy Wright. We use their 1" drive impact sockets at work and few guys have their 3/4" drive sockets. They are nice. I plan on buying some 3/4" sockets from them to fill in my set and I have had my eye on a set of std combo wrenches from them. Plus they are more...

    New tools

Well new to me. About a month or so ago, my best friends uncle died. The house the uncle was living in, which was in Buffalo, NY, was his childhood home along with my buddy's dad. Well my buddy's dad is in charge of the estate and decides who gets what and so on. Well long story short he brought...

What was your first tool set?

My first tool set looked similar to the one pictured. I still have some of the tools from it. I was probably 4 or 5 when I got it. I have pictures from the x-mas my parents gave me it along with the little work bench my dad built for me. As for real tools, I started building my first tool kit...

    Any information regarding Genius Tools?

That has to be one of the funniest things I have read on this site.:lol_hitti:spit:

    DSKA Tools

I thought about starting a thread earlier when this guy brought back 5 threads about Genius tools. I didn't want to call the guy out, but now that I see I am not the only one who feels this way, I don't feel so bad.

What is wrong with Lock N' Roll® ?

In my experience, the lock'n'roll won't always protect against that. The heavier loaded drawers on box will open if they are not locked when I move it through the shop, and our floors are relatively smooth. As for the lock'n'roll mechanism vs. others, you get used to it after a while. Sometimes...

    3/8" drive impact gun dilemna

I am pretty sure SO changed their design. I just got a new set of the 1/2" drive impact swivel sockets and they no longer have the collar. They still have a pin if I remember correctly but no collar. Edit: I just checked their website and it looks like they have 3/8" drive like that now too...

    Who makes Matco sockets ?

No, the 3/4" drive set is Proto. My Matco's are the 1/2" drive mm impacts, the three 1/2" drive mm swivels, and the 3/8" drive mm swivels.

    Who makes Matco sockets ?

I only have their impact sockets, but I can tell you the numbers have lasted for the last 5 years that I have owned mine.

    Chisels!

Which is the one that is kind of curved? I have used the one before for cutting old races out of linkages for some of our older machines.

Diesel Mechanic's Toolbox & Shop Cart Tour

That is pretty much how I do my shopping. When I first started working on cars and then again on Caterpillars, I would ask guys if I could go through there stuff to see what they used and also to get a feel for the different manufacturers without having the pressure of salesmen/driver breathing...

    What are these wrenches?

I have some like in the 2nd pic, bottom left corner. Mine say "Wagner" on them and they are in a little old canvas roll-up that is on its last life so I don't like to touch it to much for fear of it falling apart even more. But as you said, my guess would be old ignition wrenches. I'm interested...

    Cool thanks.

    Let's see your toolbox.

I noticed your angle wrenches are all in metric. Does the equipment you work on use hydraulics? The reason I ask is because it seems even on the newer Caterpillar equipment, the hydraulic lines are still standard sizes, even though most fasteners are metric.
