My most interesting( to me anyway) tap

Some time back I bought a couple of old tap & die sets and a bunch of extra drill bits, taps, and dies at a flea market for almost nothing. A couple of days ago I began sorting through them and found this tap. It is marked: John Bath Co 5/16-18 T-42468 WRIGHT AERO COR Can anybody give an idea as...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Rotary tool (Dremel knock-off) FAIL. I should've known better, but I didn't have a Dremel then and I needed one ASAP. It lasted long enough to get the job done but burned out soon after. I bought a like new genuine Dremel in a thrift store soon thereafter for less than I paid for the Chinese...

    another unmarked screw/nut driver

I picked this up for $1 at a flea market today. I cannot see any markings on the handle or the sockets. I suppose I'm missing at least a Phillips bit. The cap unscrews for storing the bits inside the handle. Anybody got one of these?

    small hand drill/screwdriver

Thanks RTM, I have several different Yankee, and other push drills but this is much lighter, more simple made than any I've seen.

    small hand drill/screwdriver

I just cleaned this little tool that I've had for a while. I wonder if it was made for a special purpose as the "chuck" will only hold a very limited range of bit sizes ( a few thousandths at most). There is a storage space provided under the cap. The only marking on it is GERMANY. It is very...

    Mystery Vice Grips

Calling a bolt by its head size

It irritates the **** out of me to work with someone who calls bolt sizes by the head size. I have a friend in his seventies that does that and he's been messing with cars since his early teens. I don't guess he'll ever change. And he has no idea of the thread count. He can tell course from fine...

    S&K toolbox grill

Sorry, had one of them senior moments but I fixed it.:o :withstupi I only paid $5 for the grill so if it won't shine up like new I'll do the best I can and either flip it or use it like it is. I have the equipment to powder coat with but I don't see me going to...

    S&K toolbox grill

I bought an S&K toolbox grill yesterday at a flea market. It is all powder coated but faded, from exposure to the sun I guess. I would like to restore the shine. I have never dealt with faded powder coat before. I've rubbed on it a little and I think it will buff out.

    I'm assuming this is vintage.

Anytime there is a doubt whether a tool is vintage or not post it on here. If it's not "vintage enough" for this forum someone will let you know.

    Speedy Moisture Tester

Now that I have looked at some how-to videos this kit appears to be complete except for the two steel balls and the calcium chloride needed to actually perform a test. There is a pint can included, with no label, but I believe it is empty. I haven't bought it yet, am not sure if I want it. The...

    Chain repair tool?

I wasn't able to get a good look at this or get good pics, until tomorrow. The seller, at a thrift store say they think it's a chain repair thing? Anyone recognize it. I'm going back to check on it and some other things in the morning.

    Speedy Moisture Tester

I found this in a new local thrift store this evening. Never seen one, anybody else know about 'em? They're asking $40 but it's probably negotiable.

    Craftsman valve grinder

Yeah and I gotta take it apart and see how round & round of the handle makes the shaft go back & forth 180 degrees. Inquiring minds need to know.

A new old what is it

I found this today and first thought, another piston ring expander, but it isn't. What is it? There are no markings on it or on the box it came in.

I picked up this valve grinder tool for a Model T Ford today. I hope I don't have to use it on our '21 T Touring anytime soon.

    hacksaws?

After a long dry spell of no new finds, buying only duplicates or better examples of what I already have, I finally found a "new" one. As you can see in the pic the pat date is June 21,1921. I thought that was neat because our Model T is a 1921. It was built May 28.
