How much does railroad track cost??

Thats odd, I live in the South Puget Sound area as well. I took a bunch of scrap to a place in Tacoma. I had around 30 pounds of aluminum, along with iron, and they would only give me a small fraction (like ten bucks), and the rest would be sent to my address in the form of a check. They took...

    Shipping a Pistol

The is Garage Journal, not Gun Journal;-) But the same brotherhood would exist there as well. Do the right thing, you don't want to meet Eric Holder!

    Shipping a Pistol

Best answer! I only wish I could see my dad, that option ended in 91. See him while you can, and get the pistol. It is yours, and keep it out of other hands. And don't risk going askew of the law. Too much **** can happen now days.

Compressors: Campbell Hausfeld vs Ingersoll Rand

Exactly what happened to me. And it was my issue. No problems whatsoever. I think finding a compressor that is not made in India right now is tough unless you are laying out the BIG money.

Compressors: Campbell Hausfeld vs Ingersoll Rand

Buy the IR. Don't get me started on oilless. I can only tell from experience what has happened with my use at the FD. One was as a all volunteer station. Lasted less than 2 years. The majority of its job was to keep air in the lines for a "plymovent" exhaust system. that is air pressure in...

Compressors: Campbell Hausfeld vs Ingersoll Rand

IR, and don't look back. Thrilled with mine. Bit by bit, we are working to make our fire stations 100% IR as well. Good support as well. Where is CH made?

    Shipping a Pistol

Check with a reputable gun store. If it is transfer of ownership, it has to be through one FFL to another. That is what I have done with "gunbroker.com. As it is just a gift, maybe, MAYBE not. But knowing the government and firearms, it probably does. My friends pawnshop charges $25.00...

    Wedding Registry Help

Best thing I did. I knew I had a "problem" when the Snap-On man and his wife were at our wedding:D That being said, he is a great friend. But no kidding, a Snap On registry works. I just had a print out, and people took it from there.

    Raccoons

Perhaps a live trap? Some rental places have them. Very cute, very dirty animals. We have them in our rural neighborhood, (the elderly neighbors feed them heavily), and they are a hassle and aggressive. I have three kids, and I don't want them near them. Maybe relocate them to another place...

    School me on Diesel Trucks...

Sixstringmadness, you are probably right. I did not have the time to deal with the issues. I needed a turn key truck, often. That truck left my house twice on a ramp truck, and that was a first for me. (a Fuel Injection Control Module). As I mentioned, the 6.0s at work, in the ambulances are...

    School me on Diesel Trucks...

I am glad you got a good one, and know how to take care of it. I had a new 03, and I got rid of it before it buried me in costs. Rear mains several times, turbo "farts", the list went on. The emissions stuff cost my friend with an 04 thousands. While mine was under warranty, I just never felt...

What is the most sought after Snap-On collectable?

Most collectables right now are still in the tank with this economy. A few years ago I ebayed myself to South Africa to hunt and visit friends. It is taking me twice as long now. For collectables, I wonder about the little garages that go with their promo cars.

    Rotary lift

Ain't that the truth! We are not sure yet. We want the option of selling it if it means nothing to the buyer. To most of us, it is a highly desirable item, to others, they won't know what it is other than in the way. If that house was on some property......I would be all over it, for the shop.

    Rotary lift

We have a two Post Rotary lift, 9k capacity. It is installed in my father-in-laws old shop/home. The people looking at the house may not be interested in it. What is it worth? It is about 10 years old. We are just not sure what to do with it. Unfortunately, a shop where I could use it is not in...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Working on emptying my father-in-laws garage. He died last Summer. One ton of scrap iron, hundreds of pounds of aluminum, a Rotary two post lift, a Blackhawk transmission jack, (made in USA), more tools than I can count, and many memories. Items can...

    Chainsaw recommendations

We have three Jonsered saws at work. While we were out drilling, (practicing) on a roof prop we have, an retired logger came out. "What the H%$#L are you guys running!" They just scream. A real hot rod. No need for one at home.......well maybe;-)

    Chainsaw recommendations

I will chime in one more time. If you have a stocking Husqvarna dealer, that is not a bad way to go. There is a good one in Sumner. I am on the Wildland fire team at our fire dept. So in addition to structural work, in the Summer, I go out to wildland fires. Working with WA State Dept. of...

    Drywall vs. Plywood Interior Walls

Also, if you have exposed studs right now, there are "nail guards" that cover the area where wires run so you don't drill or nail through them. I have been on a house fire where there was a nicked wire and it got hot hot multiple times through the years and finaly it caught and burned. It took...
