Can we discuss Portable Sand Blasting tanks

I currently have a decent setup using the smaller table top sandblasting cabinet from HF, but I find myself struggling with items bigger than what can fit in the cabinet's door. I am trying to read up on the portable siphon and portable pressure pot blasters. It seems that the pressurized pots...

    MIG Welders, do you spoon?

To all you Mig welders out there, what are you thoughts on welding spoons? I usually clamp a block of aluminum to the back of my sheet metal panels, but the other day I was at HF and their copper spoons seem to be easier to work with and are a easier shape to clamp to things. Are there any...

    Vinyl flooring

I was at homedepot the other day and saw a roll of the Husky diamond vinyl flooring in a roll. I currently have concrete flooring, my question is how will does this stuff hold up to actual work? Do jacks roll over this stuff? Will jack stands leave creases or even tear it apart? I cant...

    My new drill press

I just came across a new (to me) drill press, it is nothing fancy. 1/3 hp 5 speed Cal-Hawk. I know Cal-hawk is cheap Chinese made, but I got it for free so I am not complaining. It works fine, tried all the rpm, but it is missing a part I would like to have and I need some advice on how to...

    Favorite nontoxic non corrosive cleaner?

Without getting into Kerosene, Diesel, Lacquer thinner etc. What do you guys like to use a degreaser/cleaner? I used Super clean is it does a decent job, but the smell is overwhelming and it seems to be very corrosive. I also used simple green before and it doesn't seem to do much. I use...

    Currently testing my air tank

I spent the day today filling up my 60 gal air compressor tank with water and finally figured out how to pump some pressure into it (12 hrs later). My tank has a Max WP of 150psi it is a ASME certified tank built in 1985. After pumping, and pumping then pumping some more I have my tank filled...

    Compressor Outlet Pipe Size

Sorry to create another thread for this, but I need some help with my pump hook ups. The outlet on my 2 stage pump is a 3/4 NPT, can I downsize it to a 1/2 pipe or do I need to stay at 3/4? the specs on the pump are 17CFM @ 175PSI.

    Here it is!

17CFM @ 175PSI I do have some questions though, this thing has unloaders on the head and what seems like another unloader on the front, where do these things hook up to? I already have an unloader on the check valve on the tank. Also this thing has relief valves on each "cooler" one on...

    Help me ID this compressor

Hey guys, might pick up another compressor price seems right, the pump on this looks heavy duty and like a two stage, and it is a 80 gallon tank.

    Pump RPM

I'm thinking of buying a new EMAX pump that produces 14.1CFM @100PSI. I did the math and found out my pump is putting out about 8.5CFM @ 95PSI. The problem is I have a older motor that runs at 3510rpm with a 3 inch pulley. If I were to mount the Emax to this motor with the 10 inch flywheel it...

    Making a DIY after cooler

I came across a transmission cooler that measures 7 inches by 12 inches and is rated to 150PSI. The only issue is the diameter of the tubing is only 3/8th of an inch, I currently have a 1/2 inch tube connecting my pump to the check valve on the tank. Will I be hurting my CFM and tank fill...

Stupid question about air compressors and dry air

I am having a hard time finding out of my air is truly dry, or if I am sucking moister air into my sand blaster and painting. The other day I sprayed some paneling and was getting a ton of fish eyes so I need to see if its air or surface contamination. So my question is, how can I tell if I am...

    Compressor Pump Question

My current air pump doesn't seem to be cutting it for certain things. Sand blasting especially seems to strain the pump. Once the pump kicks on, it never recovers until I stop blasting for 30 seconds to 1 min. Its rated at 13-4CFM @ 90PSI. I am looking at two pumps, one is a 5HP 2 Stage pump...

It needed a lick of paint

Bought a Sanborn Industrial air compressor earlier this year, and I stripped it, painted it and put it back together, I think it turned out nice. Before: After: Now to work on this new project! 16 foot, 7000lb GWR, electric brakes, electric winch paid $800, need to strip it and paint it...

    Help with air compressor noise

Hey guys, I uploaded a video of my air compressor, it is a Sanborn Industrial 5hp compressor, since I purchased it, it makes this almost metal on metal noise, like almost like a car with loud valves. I am a bit worried it might be the bearings inside the motor, but I am not sure. I gets...

One more quick question (Air compressor)

Hello again I have a question about my air compressor I bought. I was using my sand blasting cabinet today which calls for 10CFM @ 100PSI, and my air compressor had no issue producing air for it, but was not able to over come the sand blasting to shut back down. The Air compressor is a single...

Questing about converting an Old oven

Hey guys, I never threw out my old oven and I was thinking I could use just the oven part to cure powder coated items. My question is this, we ran a 240 outlet into my garage, but this was before we had plans for a oven so we only ran 10 gauge wire. If I have NO intentions of running the top...
