    I need a 2011 calender any ideas?

I just picked one up at a battery wholesaler I buy from. The year on it is 1955. And each month has an artists rendition of a car built in 1955. 2011 and 1955 share the identical days. It's extra special to me being the year I was born.

    whats that smell?

When I was a young-un I took some welding classes at our local tech school. Our instructor was an older gentleman who had really really bad hearing. One day in class he told us why. A past student had brought a car in to have some welding done underneath it. He had asked the instructor to use...

Toolbox drawer liners – on the cheap

When I worked for the Dept. of the Defense as an aircraft electrician years ago tool accountability was imperative. For that reason we lined our tool boxes with about 1/2 inch styrofoam, and then cut an opening for each tool. Then we would paint the opening with a red paint so it really stood...

    photocell tricks and insights appreciated

Yep. I think you got it right. The instructions that come with the photocells as a rule tell you to be sure the cell is not in any exterior light source.

    Baseboard Heater

I would use an ohm meter. Disconnect your power and isolate yout stat from your element. Then put an ohm meter on your stat leads and adjust your stat up and down. The ohm meter will show an open or close reading as you do this if it's working. If it shows an open condition no matter where you...

    Jack Olsen's Quaint Masterpiece...

Your humility about all the platitudes you recieve here is refreshing Jack. I agree with what most have posted about how you inspire so many. I have a long way to go (may never get there in fact) to get my space as organized and clean looking as yours. But it always gives me something to shoot...

Im starting to wonder if we need a Crafstman pass fail thread

Well for my 2 cents, Craftsman power tools are nothing more the Harbor Frieght on steroids. Often weak steroids at that. I have gradually started upgrading to Bosch and not been disappointed yet.
