    Gararge Addition Prohibition

Another HOA gone wild huh? The original intent of these things I suppose are good, but too damn often they go crazy with power and want to control everyone and everything. Depending on how large your HOA is, and how organized, you could threaten them with legal action. Most HOA's I've dealt with...

    Pole barn lighting

I love evrything I have seen of the LED's..... except the price. They are coming down, but have a long way to go before I'd go with them. I went to a local electrical supply house who was having an Open House, with factory reps there. One rep had an LED fixture that was 2 foot square. He said it...

    floor pit construction

Exactilloso! Any electrical in a pit by code must be in explosion proof components. Huge huge costs. Lighting fixtures alone are a small fortune. I'm pretty sure a sump pump in a pit needs to be explosion proof. To do it to code and be safe will be some big bucks.

    Mechanic or HVAC Tech

I'm an industrial sparky and although not wealthy I have had steady employment for many years. I have studied some in HVAC, and if I was younger would pursue it with vigor. But all around maintenance work is what I really enjoy. Jack of all trades, master of none was a phrase I used to hear a...

Funny how we see things so different. I think that folding straw contraption WD40 has come out with is the best thing since sliced bread.

Baseboard heat available now... any thoughts?

The only concern I would have is recovery time when you open a garage door for any period of time. I think it would take a while to bring the temp in the garage back up. But it is a garage after all. Maybe a hot water coil in a make up air unit would work better.

    T8 question

I have 140 T8 fixtures located outside under some canopies at work and have never had a problem with them lighting up. Even in January when it gets single digit or lower.

    Scored some free lights!

I'm sorry to tell you these lights will not work in your application buddy. You have to consider the derated philos anti status formula to see it. I would suggest you send them to me, and go invest in some new fixtures that are rated for your application. Deal?

    T12 high output lights

I hope you're right memento. I have a dozen explosion proof fixtures that have the 4 ft T-12's in them and there is no way I could relamp them to t-5's that I can see.

    Hot water tanks blew!

I'd remove the pressure relief valve and look at the back side of it. I have seen those packed so full of mineral deposits before that they would have never woked. That is why you should manually pop the valve open every 6 months or so to assure it is opening.

    Hyd. pump motor couplers

I need to replace a damaged motor coupler that goes to a hydraulic pump for a vehicle lift. The motor shaft is a regular 5/8" keyed shaft. But the pump shaft is 5/8" splined shaft. I can't fing this combination anywhere on the Love Joy website. It looks like to me I will have the get a regular...

Adding a main panel in the garage

Not to derail the thread but you need to run a ground from the house as well as two grounds 6 ft apart at the garage?

Yep. Mine go around the axle. I sure would have thought I'd a heard it when it broke though. Maybe it happened when the Mrs. opened it.

This place just saved me some $$$$

I was reading a post last week here about garage door springs. Well on Saturday I had got home from getting some things and parked the truck in my garage and closed the door as I got out of the truck. I glanced up at the springs on my door (because I remembered the earlier post) and much to my...
