Seeking decent air regulator and "filter"

This is what I have at the moment. The Kobalt filter is supposed to filter down to 5 μm, and the Monnier (on the right) can filter to 3 μm, but has 1/4" fittings. I still have to finish running the air lines, but I have to go get some insulation first so I don't keep ******* through propane so...

    Reducing Compressor Noise

Your air intake looks exactly like what came on the compressor. Honestly, this compressor is not unbearably loud. I got rid of the cheap Kobalt regulator which leaked, so now it should not kick on every 15 minutes like it did before. I just like to tweak things, so I will see what I can do to...

    Reducing Compressor Noise

Well, since I *just* bought this compressor, I will not be purchasing a quieter one. According to THIS: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6873374&postcount=139 it generates 86 db. I think that with some inexpensive mods as I listed above, it will be fine for my purposes. I...

    Reducing Compressor Noise

So, here is what I am thinking. I'd appreciate your input. 1) 1.25" ID vinyl tubing clamped to the intake port and run through the drywall ceiling into the attic. 2) Remove (8) mounting bolts, add isolation bushings, replace bolts with longer bolts as needed. 3) Reconnect stock intake...

    Reducing Compressor Noise

This got my brain working, thank you! After some web searching, I found this site. More ideas! https://www.vibrationmounts.com/

    Reducing Compressor Noise

I spent about a year fighting the "president" of the HOA over various other issues. The result was added stress and rules that prevent me from attending meetings. (A-holes!) (I'm not officially a "member" because my name is not on the deed, and I have not paid a FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR...

Seeking decent air regulator and "filter"

Wow, those look nice! I think the series AC will work fine, and are not unreasonably priced. Thank you for the list to check out. I don't think I want to deal with something used, I'll splurge a little on this for the peace of mind knowing I won't have to deal with possible defects and...

Seeking decent air regulator and "filter"

At first the link did not work, but I figured it out - the trailing bracket is not included in the link for some reason. These are very reasonably priced. Thank you for the suggestions. Tomorrow I should find out if the old Stanley Bostich regulator even works. I took it apart and cleaned it...

    Reducing Compressor Noise

Unfortunately, it has to do with the number of outbuildings and percentage of square footage of outbuildings compared to the house. Our 2-car attached garage is considered an outbuilding because it does not have a finished loft or second story. I recently got a 10 X 20 shed, and between the...

    (Another) Compressor Piping Thread

This is what I am referencing as I run mine: https://www.tptools.com/tech-metal-piping.dlp And, specifically, this: https://cached.tptools.com/Images/airline-piping-diagram.pdf

    Reducing Compressor Noise

Cool! I had no idea that the majority of the noise was from the intake. Once I finish with the piping I am going to do something about that. Thank you all for the replies!

    Reducing Compressor Noise

Thank you all for the replies. I did purchase the pads for the feet and have one "spare." Perhaps I will put that under the flex pipe where it attaches to the wall, too. I will look into quieter intakes, as well, and check out the links posted for noise reduction. Thank you!

Seeking decent air regulator and "filter"

I'm running my compressor lines and I think I want/need to replace my air regulator(s) and water traps. I used 3/4" black iron and a stainless 3/4" flex pipe from the compressor and for the first 6 feet with a down leg to collect water, and then it switches to 3/4" Maxline. The outlets at...

    Reducing Compressor Noise

I was going to put my compressor in an outdoor enclosure, but due to homeowner association regulations, I have had to put it inside my garage. 😢 It's tucked into a corner. To reduce noise, should I completely enclose it, or can I install some kind of "baffles" around the top to absorb some of...

    Opinionated curmudgeon from PA! 😉

Hello, I'm Pete, from PA. I am a recently retired IT guy that likes, among other things, motorcycles and hot rods. I don't own any hot rods (yet!) but I presently own 4 bikes. The formula for the "correct" number of bikes is X+1, where X equals the current number of bikes you own! 😉 About...

    Workbench design help

I just put my 60 Gallon air compressor in the corner. I had originally planned to build a small shed outside just for the compressor, but it fits perfectly in the corner space @John in OH just mentioned.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Greetings from South-Central PA. After moving in with my girlfriend and losing a big barn and detached shop/garage, I am setting up the 2-car garage in my new home. I just ran a 60 amp subpanel so I can run my 230V air compressor and 230V welder. I just finished all of the wiring and moved...

    Workbench design help

I used the following plans and modified it for my garage. I also have a row of block that sticks out a couple of inches. I shortened the legs to account for this AND I also used lag bolts through the back supports into the 2x4s in the wall...
