here's a couple of discs that came with adapters in the package. here you can see the gold colored adapter that fits into the disc for reduced diameter shafts. Its a press fit. don't know what it is but maybe brass? this one came with an silver looking one. I think its aluminum.

instead of running a wire to the switch, have you considered using a wireless switch? This way you only need to make the run to the lights. bonus is that you can also have it on schedule to automatically turn on/off.

just run a hose from the exhaust port outside. I put a hole in the wall and installed a dryer vent exhaust hood and connect the exhaust port to it for my Ridgid, no more fine dust around the vac. Its also a lot quieter now. surprising how much noise is coming from the exhaust.
