Scored a couple very nice appleton 20 amp 30' cord reels. One did not power up, so I tore it down, freed up the brushes and stoned the commutators. Runs like a clock now. The other worked good on the bench, but after I got it hung, it has some dead spots. I guess I need to slick it up as well...

Went out to the shop this morning to clean up and lost my way. Cut and fit some yellow cedar soft jaws on a Columbian 3-CD and 9-RD. Also leathered a Reed 224, with a old welding glove. The shop is still a wreck. Royce

I have some drops of 6061 T-6, so I cut some jaws for a Reed 214-S today. I intentionally cut them oversize a touch to help from nicking the vise body with a grinder or striking an arc on the body. I've not used aluminum for jaws before and found that they grip better with far less pressure than...

I think a built in ruler may prove handy. So, I drilled and tapped the end of the bench to bolt a rotating end stop. I used a 1-2-3 block for the stop and it rotates down below the bench top when not in use. Next step is to mill a recess in the top so the rule lays a whisker below flush. Then...

Got started today with a side grinder trying to even up the underside of this bowling lane. It plugged up 4 discs before I gave in and used a router to get through the tar on it. I think I'll set up some rails to run the router on to get bottom the plumb flat and reduce the thickness some. Also...
