I recommend using the drip edge not only for appearance sake but it also protects the edge of the osb/plywood from getting wet and rotting away. Just my 2

That "bench" is a machine base. At a previous job I used to build high speed automated assembly equipment & I always thought it would make a great bench or welding table. McMaster Carr sells them but we typically made our own.

McMasterr Carr & Grainger sell benches similar to yours. They're mfg. by Edsal & Lyons just to name a few. You can buy the legs, tops, drawers & other accesories seperately.

If you put a stacked w/d where the water heater sits, don't you think the top unit will be too high?

Maybe you could use removable lattice panels for the sides. That way it looks nice but still has plenty of ventilation.

Maybe you can find a local hobby machinist to make up some drivers for you when you need them. Just like plumbers, electricians, and mechanics, everyone should have a machinist for a friend.
