Is there a SK Flex combination like wrench available in 1-1/16"

I replaced mine several months ago. Took a socket on a 24" breaker bar plus cheater pipe plus hammer to get the thing loose (with a helper holding the full tank to keep things from moving too much). An impact is definitely the way to go. I can't imagine trying to get it out of there with a...

Why Non-Contact Voltage Pen Tester? What is need?

The previous owner of my house put in some outlets outside in the garden beds. When I wanted to put a timer on it, I opened up the box and every conductor was white. I was very glad to have my NCVT to sort out that mess.

    Anyone like the Craftsman Quickwrench?

I haven't used them, but I think the general consensus is that they ****, which matches your experience. Gearwrench makes a similar version, but with some sort of (I think spring-loaded) nub in the groove: http://www.gearwrench.com/gearwrench-85597-12-pc-open-end-ratcheting-wrench-set-metric.html.

Anyone know why this Proto tool box weighs so much?

What box is that, J9979-NA (can't read that picture, at least on mobile)? I'm not sure Kennedy makes one that big (32 inches) so that might be part of it. Proto has a factory in Ohio making their tool cabinets and chests, my guess would be it's made in-house there.

    Wood planer

If you can't get the nails out of the way, you could flatten it with a router and a sled instead of a thickness planer. The router bit will shrug off a nail easier than the planer knives, and it's cheaper to replace if you damage it.

    Tools of Japan

Yeah I think that's what's going to happen. It's a little redundant with the 2 17mms so I thought about selling or trading it, but I think it'll just go in the wrench drawer and someday it'll be useful.

    Which vice

I have a swivel vise (it's a Parker) and haven't had it slip on me. I use the swivel sometimes when I'm doing something that would be awkward to do side-to-side, like draw filing or using a spokeshave. If I had it mounted on a workbench that was in a more open area a fixed base would work...

Broken US CM Needle Nose...what to do?

I have a pair of needle nose pliers that got ground into snap-ring pliers when I needed some in a pinch and didn't own any. Once I owned actual snap-ring pliers, it got reground into a weird stubby needle nose. Every once in a while, it's the perfect size and shape for an odd job.

HF Mobile Base or Piece One Together?

I have that one. Two of them, actually: my radial arm saw is on one and the other one is holding an old cabinet with a benchtop router table on it. They've held up great for me. Most of the time they're just sitting, but they move easily on the casters and don't budge when dropped down onto...

A new type of bench vise (Homemade prototype)

Is this your new vise? It's clever, and having the horizontal jaws could definitely be useful. Main issue is it's not much of a "bench vise", as it would be a huge pain in the *** to close it when you want to use the horizontal jaws as the handle would be over the bench. Mounted on a post...

    New Tool Benches/Boxes available

Those look pretty good for the price. I wish they made some smaller ones though. If I was redoing my whole garage they'd be great, but I'd be really tempted by a 4ft or 5ft setup now. Especially with the long drawers.

Even if those cutters are a little worn out you might want to hang onto them. I keep a couple pair of dikes that are dull around, I find them good for pulling cotter pins and those little plastic automotive body fasteners without cutting them.

    Apex USA Sockets, any Difference?

The double detents are the only difference I can think of. I have Craftsman, Craftsman Industrial, and USA NAPA with the double detents, none of my KD have it. Don't think I have any Armstrong sockets to compare. I don't know if this is a difference in line, or if it's because they're...

    Reversed Wrench Rack - Tekton?

Hey kkroger, what's the depth on that drawer? I was using the Ersnt wrench rails ((These ones), but they're too tall to fit in the shallow drawers on my Proto box, so I switched to the low profile rails; I was curious how shallow of a drawer the style you're using fits.
