    Hammer time!

I am a little embarrassed to ask, but is brass the proper hammer for use with number/letter stamps? I don't mind mashing a chisel but for some reason it seems wrong to mushroom a stamp.

It seems like the guys at the tire shop mess up a lot of studs and they always say "you needed new studs." I wonder if that's true?

Cool old APEX impact sockets w/ extensions

I put a pic of a good haul up and got a PM about these sockets, asking what they were. They say APEX Dayton Ohio, which is still a brand I guess, not sure if that's who made them or someone who put their name on. The shorter ones are 7/16"-3/4" and the long ones are 9/16" and 5/8". The long...

    Scored a Vintage 8" Baldor Grinder...Questions Though

Yea it happens a lot more with angle grinders for all the obvious reasons. Aluminum heats up and cools in the wheel and it's nasty.

    Scored a Vintage 8" Baldor Grinder...Questions Though

If you don't want the wheel to explode, you take aluminum to the sander instead of the wheel. I have never seen a wheel blow off a bench grinder.

More than I could afford but less than you would be cool with hearing.

    Decent CL Haul

Today was better. I went to see a man about this 3/8" set, they're not NOS just because they have some drawer chud on them, but they've never been used. <a href="http://s19.photobucket.com/user/picturedlife/media/20140224_161901_zps66128385.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img...

    Scored a Vintage 8" Baldor Grinder...Questions Though

People have their different perspectives and experiences, mine is that side covers and eye shields are lame and slow everything down. I would run that machine exactly as it is and love it. Nothing against restorers or their ways, but you have everything I would want right there and $110 is a...

    Decent CL Haul

I think the ratchet is the old 31 toother. It will eventually save me, but till then its just more junk. The hammer actually says bh123c I think, big hammer is what I was thinking as well.

    Decent CL Haul

Also, I have started to steer away from buying orphans, seems like I end up with sets later and the singles are just pointless.

    Decent CL Haul

Yea I just went to get the puller, I think I have a cheapo version of the same, that I'm planning to ruin to get it into a tight spot between a harmonic and radiator, by shortening the screw. Gave me an excuse to pick this up for a decent price and the rest was a "why not." It was either the...

    Found a ReelCraft

This might be off topic a little, and definitely congrats on that score, but does anyone have an opinion on how Balcrank reels compare to the Reelcraft? Also, for the original poster, I hope that little piece of paper or something tells you how long of a hose that reel is for. I stupidly...

    Williams BSW wrenches

If you aren't going to hang onto them, English motorcycle people in your area will want them a lot. Or maybe this is the beginning of your Vincent restoration career?

6 point socket on 12 point bolt?

I am surprised I didn't see anyone already say to just grind the one you have down till it fits in the hole and leave it in a junk drawer for when you have to get at that bolt. I have drawersfull of sacrificial junk tools for stuff like that.
