What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Did some cleaning and started on the insulation. Rough electrical will get approved tomorrow, trying to get the finish electrical scheduled, and hoping today to rent the equipment and saw cut the sidewalk for the feed line to the sub-panel.

    Small shop/garage build in Arizona

So, framing inspection nearly passed today. Electrician used the wrong boxes for the 2 220v outlets, so they need to be swapped. Meanwhile I can get the stucco guy out and let him finish up, and I can start ordering insulation and drywall/plywood and planning to finish the interior. Wooo

    Small shop/garage build in Arizona

My buddy Russ came over today and the two of us put in the final Richie's before framing inspection: the two man-doors: Garage: Shop door: That door is a beast - 80lbs at least, but the hinges are sunk in with 3 1/2" star drive deck screws, so I'm thinking it's not going anywhere. The...

    Exterior door jambs for dummies

    Exterior door jambs for dummies

So, while moving this door around today in preparation, I remembered how HEAVY the damn thing is - maybe 75-80lbs. The rough framing is your typical 2x4 wall with standard jacks and a 2x6 header. Any tips on supporting this door so it doesn't sag?

    Exterior door jambs for dummies

Well, my philosophy is: if there's a chance I'm going to do something more than twice, fumble through and learn how to do it. Otherwise, pay someone :-) I picked up a frame kit at the local HD and between that and my router I'm going to hang this puppy soon. Spent some time today learning the...
