What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cut out notches in my stem wall for the garage door framing (2x6's for the garage door to attach to).

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

And yeah I'm still going to pad it out a bit, but less than I'd have had to otherwise.

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

3 out of four done and I'm beat. But that grinder and diamond wheel was the sh*t. Like butter. Thanks beemer!

Thanks Beemer, I think I'm going to give it a shot!

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

Yeah I was prepared to wrap the opening - looking at my little 4 1/2" angle grinder and wondering how long that's going to take to cut/chip out! (I have the lumber already from construction)

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

Sublimate, I'm not too worried about losing a couple inches, though I hear you. As far as the stucco goes, that's typical Arizona procedure, you just sort of deal with it.

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

So... Simple solution? Frame it out with a 2x4 in between - it brings the stucco back around a little more and I lose a couple inches around the door of internal space, but no concrete cutting and the door track should clear it. What do you guys think?

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

Cowboy - hadn't thought about using an angle grinder -- good idea. I do think I'll get the door guy to look at it first but good to have an option.

Prep for garage doors - stem wall in the way?

I'm prepping my garage for the garage door install, and I'm putting in the 2x6 framing around the inside for the track to mount on, and I realize this: I can bring the 2x6 down to that stem wall but did I get screwed when it was poured? (I've been playing GC on this project - emphasis on...

    Small shop/garage build in Arizona

So I got the final quote from the electrician today: $4k for everything except any potential saw cutting while running the feeder line from the house to the sub panel. That includes: - the 70+ ft run from the main panel, through the attic, down the house and under a sidewalk, then 20' trench...

Shade - well I guess we'll see. Technically I'm not sure with my design I'm allowed to "install" AC - due to limited available insulation space between the TJIs, but I will definitely look into it.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Quick lunchtime project -- started to reinforce some old bathroom cabinets to be used as roll-around bases for tools. Added the 2x base and supports to this cabinet that will become the base of my miter saw: Will add some HF casters and a 2x top shortly.

Oh one more small feature: rather than bother with full HVAC, I've got a roll-around AC that is pretty powerful. This weekend I also installed an exterior vent with 6" to 5" reducer to run the AC vent out of: (The 2-bys are there to give the stucco doe thing to run up against. I'll paint...

    Small shop/garage build in Arizona

Hey folks, Quick update - I was procrastinating deciding whether to divide the garage or just hang a welding curtain up to protect the wife's van, and Finally decided I'd rather be safe. So this weekend I framed out a wall between the two bays. Rather than frame a door I left a 4' opening -...
