One interesting option could be doing a soap finish, which can look really nice on ash: https://www.finewoodworking.com/project-guides/finishing/lather-up-soap-flake-finish

    The Bimmer Basement

This is timely, as I've been thinking about adding a permanently installed pressure washer to cut down on setup/breakdown time. Any reason why you opted for the VE56 rather than the slightly more expensive Active 2.0? Looks like the outlet/inlet orientation on the 2.0 might work better for my...

I haven't really looked into clutch options or the rear main seal. I have a Porsche as well, so "Rear Main Seal" sends a shudder down the spine. If I were to do an aftermarket clutch, I'd pretty much want a setup as close to stock as possible, or at least as close to how it is now. I did...

I asked a well reviewed local VW place about the clutch situation with a Stage 1 tune on my MK7 Golf R: "Clutch slip will be inevitable. How long it lasts will depend on your driving habits and mileage on the car. If you don’t plan on going for big power you will be fine with a south Bend stage...

A lot of states/cities have pretty generous programs to fund some or all of that type of work as well. Probably would only take one or two emergency ice dam removal payments to fund someone else to crawl around up in the attic air sealing and blowing in extra cellulose.

I have the smaller 4.0 ft^3 Samsung heat pump dryer and I've debated going with the larger Whirlpool, which I think is the only current "full sized" heat pump dryer option. The Samsung has a small access panel at the bottom for cleaning the condenser fins. It's not the most enjoyable process, so...

I have a 2017 Golf R and I'm debating the same. I'd probably only consider the APR Stage 1 in low torque but all of the warnings about clutch replacement are pretty dire. I generally don't drive that hard and have never had to replace a clutch on a car that I've owned so I still think there's a...

You might be able to get away with toggle bolts, but I'd just bite the bullet and put in solid blocking and never worry about it again. You could probably hide most of the patch behind the night stand and, if you're neat about it, it shouldn't be too bad to do.

I went through a similar experience with my MK7 Golf R although mine was after the battery died and left me stranded. I'd driven for 5 hours out of state, then went out to get pizza and it wouldn't start. It's a 2017 with 38k miles, which apparently isn't unusual for a battery failure in these...

    Tall vinyl cove baseboard

My garage has a ~11" tall stem wall around the perimeter. I recently put down RaceDeck and was looking at using some vinyl cove baseboard to cover the gap at the edges and generally create a cleaner look, but ideally I'd want it to cover the full face of the concrete block. Anyone familiar with...

    RACEDECK BLACK FRIDAY SALE

Order placed! 484 sq ft. Went with a slightly unconventional "green light" and beige combination. Some freeflow in areas where we tend to have boots drying etc. Looking forward to putting it in...slightly nervous for how this is all going to look!

    RaceDeck color selection - thoughts?

Cool, I'll be interested to see how it looks. I'm considering a RaceDeck floor and I'm not really into the multi colored/checkerboard/etc designs.

Advice for 55 year old garage floor (tile?)

There are also more "vapor open" masonry paints available if you're concerned about trapping moisture within the wall.

Composite Tile Floor - Solid versus 'Freeflow'

I'm considering RaceDeck Freeflow but had that same concern, especially if I were to put down landscape fabric. Spilling oil means that I'd be cleaning tiles, landscape fabric (good luck), and areas where it soaked into the concrete. Sounds like a massive pain. Agree that it might be worth...

Below 265 SQ/FT Tiny Tokyo Shop

I just HAD to see this, didn't I! Currently have Makita tools scattered all over the place. Looks like a great storage solution. I've never loved the tool cubbies because they don't seem adaptable enough.
