    Propane useage?

A couple 110 electric heaters will keep it from freezing as long as you aren't in and out of the doors all day. Then use the temp tank to get it to working level How are you electric prices?

    kennedy toolboxes?

Love mine. Got it for $120 delivered, which was a steal. Looks real similar to your potential setup. Bodyshop kid owned it so it was blasted and painted/cleared. Mine can't be swapped for roller slides, but I never did mind. Took some elbow grease to clean them up though. Can be seen here, as...

Follow along as a teenager attempts to revamp a garage.

Some sort of tiles or work mats would be an investment you could take with you when you move out. Just a thought.

    Leer caps

Is there a window in the front of the cap? Stick a thermometer back there that you can see through the back window of the truck. And think about keeping a big portion of the roof white if it's tall enough to remain unseen. Should help with the sun quite a bit. Maybe a 12 volt clamp fan to...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks Gents, I'll be doing some homework. Took another look at it last night and it seems to have removable jaws with about 20 coats of paint over them. I just bought it on the size versus price scale, and the fact that it was made pretty close to where I grew up.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

$20 CL find. Was at the guys house to look at a bench grinder that I didn't haul home and this was a great secondary find. What's the intended purpose for this type of flat faced vices? Going to be great for woodworking. And holding the floor down.

    ***** Dropper II update

Not a big fan of firearms... Actually, it's more for sentimental reasons, we used to keep 3 of them at the front door to a college apt. That door had been broken into while the previous tennant was there. Some drug activity was suspected according to the local cops I am buddies with. Surely...

    ***** Dropper II update

The top of the roller is a great idea with ****** execution. It's poorly cut and is beat to all hell. I'm definitely going to either cut a new piece or strip what's there and coat it in bedliner or something to go with the colors of the metal. The press was $40. Was the first time I paid an...

    ***** Dropper II update

Ah... forgot. The old place was the real ***** dropper. Someone in my intro post was consoling me after giving it up and commenting that with some effort the place could be the PD II. Sorry about that. No, it's not a ***** dropper... It's the perfect simple, utilitarian living style I have...

    ***** Dropper II update

It's coming together. My perfect shop/apartment space has zapped a ton of my time and with the amount of space that's here, the work seems to keep piling up. For those of you who didn't e-mail me for an update, this is an update to my intro post about finally finding a place to live and work...

    Garage entry door security

This rear door to my shop had been broken into a couple times when the previous tennant was here. There was some drug activity nearby and the guy was known for having some pretty nice vehicles inside. The hollow steel door was getting pretty flimsy and the hinges are outside so I felt I needed...

    exhaust fan with shutters

Not sure if the fan itself is the same make as the control, but this thing has been a dream for pumping exhaust fumes out. Know that it's not nearly as efficient as ducting the exhaust straight out. Make sure you have a good detector. The shutters on the outside and plywood door do a decent...

What type of options are available for accessing high storage areas above garages?

Until you get your steps figured out, what about hinges on the access hatch? Maybe a small bungee to help lift some of the weight? Or maybe some nylon strap long enough to slide it out of the way, but short enough to keep the panel off your noggin? Maybe some furring strip "legs" on top of...

    Tailpipe Expander???

I "rent" a threaded one from advanced when I need it... works very well to get the clamp dimples out of pipe and pull an od-to id fit.

The really cheap path through 3" of steel

Jack, How about 3 or 4 removable studs tapped into the table and a similar pattern base countersunk bolted to the sparsely use tools? Big wing nuts or washers and bolts could mount each base to the studs, or the whole thing could be removed.

I don't care how many tools you've got, you'd like to have one of these

Makes sense as I think about it. I would imagine that my weight is a big factor in what keeps me from moving as opposed to the fastener...

Quick, throw away steel doors, give me some ideas

Sell them as new metal doors with a 2x2 cut out window? Use them as verticals and put shelves between them? Take them to the scrap yard?

    Pipe Insulation

Now that I think about it, don't pool noodles... yes the neon colored floaties... have a big inner diameter? I just bought some for the cables of my trailer door and it seems like they might be 1" or bigger.

    Hot water recirculating pump

A relative asked me to install one. I did the homework but she changed her mind. On the one I was looking at, you do not have to redo the lines, just incorporate the pump at the point of use and the cold water line is used as the "return." She changed her mind when I told her her she would be...

    World's smallest garage

Reminds me of my 76 malibu in a 10x20 tin can storage unit. If I had anything on the floor I had to crawl out the window.
