    Socket Length By Brand

Interesting, I was under the impression that they were transitioning overseas. I knew the ratchets were imports and assumed that the sockets were too. The more you know...

    Socket Length By Brand

I'll dig a little deeper. Blackhawk sets seem to be hard to come by. It could definitely be an option though. Thank you.

    Socket Length By Brand

That would certainly work, but my current setup is mishmashed and misplaced enough that I want a new starting point. I'll keep the old ones for custom jobs.

    Socket Length By Brand

Thank you sir! I looked for NAPA USA but the offerings all seem to be transition period... If the Proto are of the shorter variety I'll probably go that route. I have something of a thing for Proto. Koken was a thought but I'm not willing to drop that kind of money. At least, not the kind of...

    Socket Length By Brand

I came across a few deals on Armstrong so the price would be reasonable. SK pricing seems to be high as gas though. I like SK but they're out of the range unless I find that magical closeout seller...

    Socket Length By Brand

Aren't Blackhawk the import brand for Proto? I would assume they have the same added length.

    Socket Length By Brand

I'm interested in some new sockets, particularly 1/4 drive shallows and want the new to be a bit shorter than the typical Taiwanese imports. It's odd how that tiny difference can make such a difference, but I've run into a few situations where the slight increase in length was a pain...

Correct drill size for 1/8" npt tap

I want to say that's a size Q, off the top of my head. Should probably look it up though.

    R.King half hatchet heat treatment?

You could use a propane torch for this, or place the head back in the fire socket end first and carefully watch as the colors run. Very carefully.

    R.King half hatchet heat treatment?

I see no reason not to try but would temper using a torch, heating the socket of the head. You don't want the entire axe to be knife hard.

    New Tool Idea......

Magnet on the wrench will work too. Use one of the strong neomydium magnets.

Are Master Mechanic picks made by Pratt-Read?

I believe they are. At TrueValue Pratt-Read and Master Mechanic seem to be interchangeable on the pegs. I don't have their picks but the Master Mechanic hard handle screwdrivers are very good.

    Favorite needle nose pliers.

I have a pair of Klein that I really, really like. I believe they are the 7" model. At some point I'd like to add a few more of theirs to my kit.

    Channellocks- beyond the pliers.

    Overstrikes will usually do it.

Order of tool use- Socket vs Box End Wrench

Then you'd pop the socket off the breaker bar and go to town with your ratchet. I go for the impact wrench whenever possible. Sockets all day long there but otherwise I like a wrench.

Order of tool use- Socket vs Box End Wrench

Sockets go on a ratchet which... Ratchets. With ratcheting wrenches becoming common a lot of the convenience is there with wrenches nowadays. I like wrenches, personally.

    Milwaukee 18 volt question

They're all the same batteries. The fuel version is the tool, not the battery. So you have a fuel impact and a brushed impact but the batteries will work in either.
