    2015 Garage SaleThread

Dave that tattoo kit is scary looking! It must be for animal ears or something, you couldn't fit many human body parts in those jaws. edit: Oh yeah, now I see the thing about animal identification on the ink jar.

Mr. Heater Big Buddy $72 at Menards

I have one and love it, no fumes and while the fan doesn't move a huge volume of air it does help with circulation. I use it to supplement the wood stove in a small cabin and it does a great job. I'd agree that it's a good idea to get the hose to use it off of a bulk tank but if you do get a...

    Vise Grip this

Years ago I bought a 74 Nova for parts. It had C clamps holding the head pipe to the exhaust manifold as well as several on the valve cover to stop leaks. And I've used a vise grip for a battery connector several times, works good.

Leatherman Rebar $30 at Lowes after coupon

Actually it's only slightly larger when folded, however it is a bit heavier than the Skeletool. The Rebar goes unnoticed in the pocket of my jeans but I find that the reduced weight of the Skeletool makes it more comfortable in the pocket of dress slacks, of course you give up a few features...

Leatherman Rebar $30 at Lowes after coupon

You've got to spend money to make money. Or so I'm told. I keep spendin' but I haven't seen much return on my investment yet. :lol_hitti

Leatherman Rebar $30 at Lowes after coupon

I've been hunting for a new multi-tool ever since my last Leatherman went walkabout on me. I've been eyeing the Rebar but had a tough time swallowing the $50-$60 price tag, especially since these things tend to grow legs. Right now Lowes is listing the Rebar at $39.99. It's billed as a "new...

why use ratchet adapter + breaker bar?

Great question OP, I was thinking of posting exactly the same thing but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I picked up SO 1/2 and 3/8 ratcheting adapters cheap at a garage sale a year ago and they've been rolling around in a drawer ever since. I like the T handle idea and may try that. I may...

    Barrel Stove Idea

Why not buy a cheap prefab metal shed, insulate the daylights out of it, put the barrel stove inside, and run insulated duct work through the wall of your shop? Sort of a poor man's outside wood boiler (without the boiler part). It'll cost a few bucks and won't be as efficient or convenient as...

    Ironton Battery/Carbon pile Tester

I'd agree, other than the color that looks like the HF unit, paid about $35 for mine and it did the job.

    Craigslist idiots.

Yeah, nothing bad ever happens during a CL transaction... http://www.wafb.com/story/28761189/craigslist-killers-86-murders-linked-to-popular-classifieds-website Cliffs Notes version- 86 murders have been linked to CL. A lot of these seem to be prostitutes who advertised in the personals but...

Is it a sin to turn wood on a metal lathe?

Woody is right, the wood dust goes everywhere and I'd think it'd be a real pain to clean it off a metal lathe since any trace of oil would make the wood dust stick. You can get wood lathes for cheap if you shop around, my Craftsman was $50 at a garage sale and I've seen others on CL for under...

HF Scissor Lift w/25% off coupon?

I bought a scissor lift this past spring. I'd reasearched them for a while and from what I recall all of the basic scissor lifts (HF, Atlas, Dannmar, BendPak, etc) are 1) pretty much the same from a design/construction standpoint, and 2) are made in China. I ended up going with the Dannmar...

    Jeep CJ frame repair

I've had a few AMC-era jeeps and in my experience when the back of the frame is that bad the rest of the frame isn't a whole lot better. It can certainly be fixed and if all your son wants is a beater to bang around in the woods with go ahead and plate it up and use it but if he's restoring the...

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Stompers were cool, I had several. One time I decided it'd be fun to turn one on and set it on top of my head. My mom spent the next hour or so cutting 4 Stomper tires out of my hair and I looked weird for a few weeks.

    Roller door security

When I'm going to be away for a while I bolt a couple of pieces of uni-strut across the inside of the door from track to track, then I slip a sheet of ply in between the uni-strut and the inside of the door. Not real high security but it would slow somebody down.
