Slightly off-topic question: Will H3PO4 'burn' millscale off of hot-rolled steel? I know HCl will (I use it for that all the time), but it would be nice to be able to do so with something that's not an oxidizer. Anyone know?

What % strength phosphoric acid do you all use? Where do you buy it?

let me check.... I checked with "my guy", and he confirmed my understanding that the color has changed over the years. The '70s would have been some version of "Highway Yellow". Here's a chart that may (or may not!) help...

Glad it's working for you.....but if it helps: Vinegar (acetic acid) that you buy in the grocery store is usually 5%. If you go to the big-box stores, you can buy 30%. It makes a huge difference.

I, too, have heard that a diablo blade can damage a "regular" (wood) circular saw, but so far, I've not experienced any issues. That said, I did NOT do this with my "good" circular saw...I bought a used B&D on CraigsList for $20. If the metal shards kill it, so be it. Circular saws on CL...

The "new" brake clean (i.e. CRC "Brakleen") is just acetone. Check the SDS sheet.
