Running multiple 240v in the same conduit

If your "electrician" said this I'd find another one that knows what he is doing. THere is no such prohibition in the NEC, nor any local amendments I have ever heard of. Also, there is no such thing as "10/2 THHN". THHN/THWN is individual conductors, not cable. So for a 240V circuit you would...

    More over-dramatic ********.

didn't use noalox on electrical connection.. is that fine?

Are you equating old FPE StabLoks to new larger aluminum conductors?? If you are you have no idea what you're talking about.

    Wiring receptacles

It's not YOUR thread. Anyone who wants can answer. Like you alluded to earlier, if you don't like replies that don't agree with you then maybe don't post to forums.

    Wiring receptacles

You need a receptacle in an outbuilding with power. Beyond that I wire based on the intended usage. If codes don't concern you then do whatever you want. I am not a fan of your anarchist type of personality so I will just leave it at that.

    Electrical box location question

Yup. Pretty sad actually, considering that panel was installed quite recently.

    Grounding

Well, I believe it's that concrete is just as good as dirt for conductivity. What if the soil were solid rock? Or even mostly rock?

    wire type for outlet box

I highly doubt that box is deep enough for a 4-wire 30A receptacle as well.

That is a McGill drop light. Top quality piece. Should have a cord and plug attached.

Single Pole switch for 240 circuits

I say this all the time when folks say they got "hit by 220". LOL!

Single Pole switch for 240 circuits

If the switch is both the control and the means of disconnect, you are correct. If there is a receptacle, and you relied on the switch thinking it would kill all power, AND didn't unplug the load, AND didn't check for no-power, you are an idiot and should not be working on electrical stuffs.

Single Pole switch for 240 circuits

This question really has nothing to do with whether a neutral is involved or not.

Single Pole switch for 240 circuits

Really? Care to elaborate then? The question was can a SP switch control a 240V receptacle. Do you know what a means of disconnect is? Are you aware that in this case the receptacle is the means of disconnect, NOT the switch? In the case of the OP the switch is simply a control. Nothing more.

Single Pole switch for 240 circuits

Code citation? Or is this another case of "I've always been told..." ?

Has anyone seen the single 240 receptacles inside a home before?

Typically, 240V receptacles and circuits are run to specific loads. It's not like you'd run a 240V receptacle to some random location "just in case". Also, you'd need to know what amperage to run, "240V" is only half the equation with regard to a circuit. A power tool might be fine with a...

Has anyone seen the single 240 receptacles inside a home before?

Kind of semantics, but it would be extremely rare to have an A/C that large in a BR. They start with 240V around 18K BTU. That is HUGE for pretty much any bedroom. A living room, yeah, a fair point.

    Federal Pacific Main

IMO it depends on the area. Constantly wet/humid and coastal areas would benefit from a copper buss panel. LI NY you will not see any AL wire or parts other than the utility drop. 150 miles north AL is used everywhere.
