    Need Help Designing Loft Storage

I have a 30' I beam spanning my pole barn. It only needs support on either end and is open all the way across. The loft comes out to the beam about 12' from the back wall.

    Show us your Kennedys

Three old ones I have. Sorry, the pics ain't too good. The bottom cabinet on the wall is the first one... The two bottom ones on the end... Honestly though, they are pretty crummy boxes for what they cost. The slides are really crappy. Even my new brown bottom chest at work has terrible...

Ryobi vs. Craftsman Drill/Driver Home Use

My ten year old C3 craftsman stuff has held up very well and are better built than the current C3 stuff I bought last year. It still seems decent enough for home use, but it's not what it was a decade ago. They just feel cheaper. I wouldn't worry too much about the batteries though, C3 is...

Free Milwaukee M18 Drill, Impact or Sawzall *

Well, I was in HD today and they had the hackzall kit for $129, so I got a $79 4.0 Ah battery to go with it for free. I had my eye on this saw for a while. I wanted something compact and portable. Seemed to be a reasonable deal...

Free Milwaukee M18 Drill, Impact or Sawzall *

I saw Home Depot has a bunch of Milwaukee deals with free tools added. http://www.homedepot.com/b/Featured-Products-Milwaukee-Tool-with-Free-Add-on/N-5yc1vZcbsz I was checking out the Hackzall and battery for $129...

why you need at least 2 of every tool

After 35 years of buying tools, I think I have multiples of everything. They get moved out of circulation into different sets as new ones come in. Old ones end up in sets for the house, the junkyard, the garage, the workshop, a set in each truck, etc. Oh yeah, a set at work too. :)

    shop lights for cold climates

T8 with electronic ballasts work fine in my unheated Pennsylvania shop really well. They come right on even when it's below zero out.

    Shop rags

I throw them out. That's why they call them rags. They are one step away from being trash already. ;)

Refused freight delivery - Now what?

How come you didn't just buy one from the store if you saw them there? The "shipping crate" and I use that term loosely, for my 44" HF box was made out of some kind of balsa wood I think. It just crumbled in my hand. I have no idea how they make it here at all from China.

Need a new pair of boots

Go to www.americanmadeworkboots.com and check them out. All USA made boots. I buy my Carolina 1309 boots from them. They are comfy and last. Redwing boots have too much arch support and hurt my feet.

HF long pattern polished combo wrenches

Other than the metric skipping sizes, they are OK on a tight budget for something that's not a "go-to" tool. I've had both sets for about a year. They are fine for the home shop, but I'd spend more for something better if you are planning on using them daily. The quality is eh, well, what can...

Help...broken bolt, need a very small die grimder

Pull the head. BTDT. It'll be way less work and be done right. The worst part is removing the 390s 75 pound intake manifold.

    side cab/locker thread

I have a small vise mounted to my HF side box. It's only for light work at the box to save some steps though. I wouldn't use it for suspension work or something.

    Impact gun use: battery powered

That was the idea. The comments above were saying a 1/2" was too much for some jobs and about power settings. Their is always a right tool for the job.....

    Impact gun use: battery powered

Say what you will about Craftsman (Mostly true), but this has been a great tool. http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-17428-nextec-12-volt-cordless-compact-1-4inch/p-00917428000P?prdNo=6&blockNo=6&blockType=G6 I use it all the time for everything from hanging shelves, to taking out body bolts.

Bought my first Ride on mower....

Were you going up and down the slope, or sideways? I get a better finish going up and down. My 54" deck has 5 anti scalp wheels, so it scalpes 5 times worse when it scalps. I believe it's bad for oiling riding sideways too.

Bought my first Ride on mower....

It takes some time to figure out a pattern around objects so you don't have to make sharp turns or back up a lot. It'll work itself out with time. I like to cut everything twice. Once I go square to my buildings, and then I cut a second time at 30 degrees in large areas and 90 degrees in...

I want reverse on my drill press

Or you can do like my old Gilson rototiller does for reverse, and do a figure 8 with the belt. :D
