Add a bit more cross bracing than you think you need and adjustable feet with enough travel to make damn sure the thing is level. I used one at a friends shop and we had to place wood blocks under 4 of the feet to get it level due to the slope of the floor.

You are correct the sched 40 is the weak link, but it still should be plenty strong for my application. I have had my eye out for a nice piece of tube but after a couple of years looking have yet to find one and buying new is not in the budget for this build.

Sounds like moving quickly worked out in your favor, I wouldn't be in a rush to clear everything out either, give the family time and if there is still stuff there in a few months then you can start pushing.

12 inch main base 10 inch bolt circle, the post is a 3.5 inch sched 40 pipe. Finished up a rough sketchup drawing of it. the funky base is due to needing to clear the electrical box under it.

I agree, but I had the nut and my local supplier did not have a 12 pitch in stock, if they had it would have been bought. I also have a 1 1/2-12 die picked up in the same auction lot as the 1 1/2-6.
