    Ramping up for Christmas

Wow just Wow. My torch cutting skills have gone way down in the last 25 years but even at my peak cutting just about every day I could/would not even think about trying that. Mad skills. I did make a real nice 2 inch cut on some 1" at fabtech last week.

    Hydronic heat is running!

These guys are right on, Also in chilly MN a bit further north and no need for a 2nd heat source. I have been known to shut the system down when i need to have the door open for longer periods and once the door is shut the temp is right back up in a matter of minutes. I keep my shop at 60 to 65.

    What would you change?

I mostly like everything in the shop. The one thing that I would change is to delete the floor drain, with the infloor heat everything evaporates so quickly that it is not needed and I would like a flatter floor. I would also add more outlets in the ceiling, which I will be doing over the...

    Consequences of unpermitted work

And there is a huge difference between Code and permitted, I do all my home improvements above code because I like it that way buy pull very few permits for my own stuff.

    Consequences of unpermitted work

99.9% of all homes built before last week have unpermitted work in them. In all my years I have never seen a sale or ins claim denied for it, when I do "Hear" about it it is always someones cousins third girlfriends next door neighbors aunt who had it happen.

Would adding RV garage features greatly broaden appeal?

I have been reading your threads with interest. IIRC you said that you plan on keeping this property for 30 years, if that is the case then why all the ??? about building for resale? Yes that is important but if I were you I would build what I want/need and not worry so much about what the...

Deal or no deal on power tools?

You are so far off it isn't even funny, scrap would be the if it didn't work at all. I love how so many here get all high and mighty over anything that isn't 1000's of $$$ and 1000's of pounds. The best machinist I know freely admits that a competent machinist can make good parts on a crappy...

Deal or no deal on power tools?

$350 is a good price for all of that and whatever tooling come with. IGN and DrClyde are correct the lathe and the mill are light duty at best but remember they come from this from a different perspective, they need to make a living with the machines they use and time is money so a better...
