Learned something today about three-way switches

The Lutron lets you adjust the brightness from both switch locations. I also like the feature where I can press and hold the button for a few seconds, and it gives me light for a while while I leave the room before it shuts them off automagically.

    Push on wire connectors

As mobiledynamics posts, I'd prefer a new twist. Attempting to straighten and re-twist copper seems like a questionable practice. Are the Wago's certified for Canada and does the CEC permit their use in a splice/pigtail?

Learned something today about three-way switches

This is partly why I use Lutron Maestro switches. It's just a button with a dimmer rocker, no "up/down" to look out of sync. That and they can be programmed for fade on/off speeds.

    Push on wire connectors

I have a 125v/15A receptacle to replace. The pigtail wire has a big nick in it and I'd like to swap it. This means untwisting it from the 2 other 14g wires to replace. Trouble is, there's not a lot of length left on the remaining wires. By the time I cut out off twisted wire, strip and...

    Dimplex LPC install

Presumably it's coming from the thermostat location. You know, to turn on the heater ;)

    Dimplex LPC install

Alright, figured out that one. Here's another: There's two wires coming from the wall. I guess a full sized heater for the room requires two connections. However the heater that's going in is smaller and only uses one. I'm guessing it's too tight to pull both into the heater, connect one...

    Dimplex LPC install

Installing a couple of Dimplex LPC heaters. (http://www.dimplex.com/en/page.php?id=27&p=759&s=60) These little suckers get hot, so they come with spacers that push them out from the wall and up off the floor by about 3/4". Along the bottom of the heater there's a C channel that, if...

    15 AMP circuits & lighting

Doesn't the electrical code limit the number of fixtures (receptacles, lights, etc, or a combination thereof) on a circuit to 12 or 14 or something? OP wanted to put 30 on a circuit.

    15 AMP circuits & lighting

You may be OK amp/watt wise, but wouldn't you be exceeding the number of allowed fixtures on a circuit?

    Luton dimmer switch/LED compatibility?

Ok, I might as well piggy-back on this thread. Any suggestions for a set of line-voltage under-cabinet LED puck lights? I originally did things with little halogen lights, but they get very hot, enough that the heat can be felt in the cupboard above. They're currently wired with a 120v...

    Luton dimmer switch/LED compatibility?

^ when changing from incandescent, I skipped the CFLs, LEDs and went directly to halogens :p

    Luton dimmer switch/LED compatibility?

I have some of these in my place http://www.lutron.com/en-US/Products/Pages/StandAloneControls/Dimmers-Switches/MaestroDimmerSwitch/Overview.aspx I like them. Partly because they confuse guests, but mostly for the features. You can program the switches so that the lights come on to a pre-set...

lost my crimpers help me find a replacement

According to the Molex crimp standards, piercing the insulation is not a suitable crimp. http://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/ats/TM-638000029.pdf

lost my crimpers help me find a replacement

I've been through a few different types of crimpers and terminals. I have a set of ratcheting crimpers from Canadian Tire for insulated terminals and went through several brands of terminals before finding one that didn't pull off the wire. Even the terminals from the same brand of crimper...

What is the best lube for brake caliper slide pins?

The more I read about this the more I'm confused. If only the stuff in the service manual was readily available and not some exotic space-age concoction derived from unicorn hooves. The closest thing I can find to the recommended Molykote AS880N is the Molykote M77 assembly paste, but the...

What is the best lube for brake caliper slide pins?

My manufacturer recommends Molykote M7439 for the pad/pad clip interface, and Molykote AS880N on the pad and pad inner shim, and the same for the inner and outer shim on the outer pads. And NIGLUBE RX-2 for the slide pins. I can't seem to find any of this Molykote stuff online. Any tips...
