PB Blaster doesn't work very well at preventing rust. Every Friday after work, I wipe down my tools before heading home. I keep some Super Lube on a rag, and it only takes 15 minutes. It has worked well in Chicago.

You REALLY misinterpreted my post. I have been extremely happy with everything I have bought from Snap On - the ratchets have been no exceptions. But, yes, I will vote with my pocketbook and continue to buy American made Snap On products.

You should tear it apart and completely clean it - that should take care of the problem. I had one that came from the factory with a small sliver of steel that kept jamming the gears.

I think a lot of it depends on the financial situation of the person buying. If I am making $8 an hour working part-time and needing a wrench to keep my car running, then I doubt Snap On is worth the premium price. On the other hand, if I am pulling in 60K working on cars for a living, Snap On...

Machinists spend a lot of time standing. What about a pair of boots?? Thorogood American Heritage Boots are USA made and really comfortable - everything you need. I got mine on Amazon for around $100.

It doesn't work well. I had it in a regularly used Matco ratchet for almost a year. When I opened it, there was slight surface rust inside. Valvoline Durablend grease is working the best for me right now. With a light coating, it works well even in cold temperatures.

Maybe. In almost 4 years, I have collected around $25K in tools including my box. It adds up faster than you think....

Mobil 1 is $5 a qt. That is the cheapest I have seen it in a long while.

I agree on the powder coating. Right now, I am having to travel over an hour just to find somebody decent. And, since he is the only guy in town, he gets to charge what he wants. It helps that he is handy with a wrench; if you want your calibers powder coated, you can leave your whole car...

I would grab my Matco flex ratchet. It isn't the most expensive tool in garage, but we have become old friends over the past couple years.

Matco BFR58FT: 3/8 stubby flex ratchet. Love the action; love the size. It is small enough to fit anywhere my hand will, and the action is strong enough I can pull as hard as possible without breaking it. For engine repairs, it is tough to beat.

50% Matco; 40% Snap On; 5% Craftsman; 3% MAC; 2% Wright/Armstrong/SK Craftsman doesn't surprise me. They had really good cheap tools for a long time. If you were to say what dominates your tool purchases for the last year, then it would be a wildly different story with Craftsman placing...

Can we see the tool that you tried to claim a warranty on?? We have been seeing a fair amount of these letters, but we never see the tool. Was it just rusted?? An extension is not a tool I would normally break.

How do you like it?? Have you noticed any differences??
