    Ratcheting screwdriver sets

My Matco's are really nice and American made. They hold their own against my Snap On. Oh, the gearless design is kinda cool too.

    MAC XR8K Rebuild

I picked up a new MAC 3/8" ratchet about a week ago. To me, it feels a pretty dry and needs a little Super Lube in there. My question: how do I get this thing apart?? When I take the three screws out, only the lever comes off. It looks like I could pound out the center part, but I am...

    is this mac worth $24

I prefer a textured handle over something smooth; easy to hold one to when it gets covered in oil and grease. Also, the 30 tooth design is tough as nails and wears really nice. With that being said, does anybody have an idea how one is rebuilt?? After I took the (3) screws out, everything...

Any experience with Autocraft brand at Advance Auto Parts?

I picked up a set about two years ago. With a coupon, I think mine was around $8. Naturally, the universal joint broke as well as the plastic case. The ratchet will free wheel every now and then, but once you smack it on concrete a few times it is good to go again. The chrome was really...

    torx screwdrivers what brand

The Matco ones are very nice. The set could use one size larger and a nut at the base; otherwise, they have a good feel to them. German made, naturally. With that being said, I have been favoring a ratcheting screwdriver with a torx bit lately.

    Matco ratcheting combination wrenches?

The Pro Swing wrenches are stamped USA. I have no idea what this guy is looking at.

    Recommend a grease gun?

Alemite 555-E fits the bill and is US made. It has a really nice feel to it with the cast aluminum head. It has a cool feature that allows it to flip between high output with low pressure and high pressure with low output. I have been using mine for a couple of years without any problems. It...

    You learn new things everyday.

:wtf: They are not even the same design. Besides, I would argue that how it handles is just as important, if not more, than the action.

    You learn new things everyday.

I never understood why so many people believe that a Matco ratchet is the same as a Craftsman ratchet. Does the same apply to cars?? Do you see an Aston Martin V12 Vantage as an overpriced Mazda 3?? Matco’s 36 – and 88 – tooth ratchets are extremely nice. Personally, I prefer a coarse...

    MAC tools?

I like MAC. Their wrenches (NOT Edge) are decent and made in Dallas, TX. Also, the 3/8 spinflex ratchet is excellent; I prefer that ratchet to anything by Snap On or Matco.

And when I Die - tool disposal

I asked the wife what she would do with my tools if I died: "Give them to my next husband." So, it looks like I am covered.

    Snap-on Classic 78 Skinned Series

I am interested in ordering a new Snap-on Classic 78 tool box from the Skinned Series - either Carbon Fiber or Razors Edge. My main concern is with the durability of the 'skin' that is used. Is the box just power coated and and vinyl decals placed on top?? Does anybody have any longer term...

    Smokin deal or Total Scam?

SCAM. It looks like Money Pak is the new Western Union. It also looks like they have been very successful with the fake website route; there are hundreds of people posting about how they fell for it.

    Air ratchet help?

You should take a look at the new Matco MT2835. It is made in the USA and costs $155 off the truck. A friend of mine was showing off his; I was so impressed that I ordered one the next day. It has a surprising amount of grunt for only a 1/4. Naturally, it is kind of loud but it doesn't...

Chinese vs. USA Craftsman RP ratchets (PICS)

Maybe not. I got an email from Matco yesterday asking me to rate the importance of being American made against other ratchet features such as tooth count, head size, appearance, and brand. They also asked what I would like to see in the next series of ratchets. So, it looks like our ranting...

how much do proto and armstrong emp. make vs snap on emp.

Snap On and Armstrong are union - Proto is not. It looks like Snap On has cut slightly over 25% of the work force in the past 10 years despite turning an average profit of $200 million every year. The top mfg executive makes 4.3 million. You should look on glassdoor if you want to know how...
