    Carlyle wrenches-quick pics

I think that by having a ridge offset, it creates a larger point load on a stronger section of the nut - right under the corner. When you have multiple ridges, then it just distributes the forces back out. They must be for show. But, yea, I never designed a wrench. :dunno:

The center ridges on the open end does nothing for the grip - poor engineering.

Mobil1 Oil at Costco $26.99 for 6 quarts

Walmart has the new Pennzoil Platinum 0W20 for $1.70 a quart - online only. Then, if you can be bothered, you get a $15 Shell gas card by mail-in rebate. It is probably a price mistake, but they have been honoring it. :3gears...

If you could only have one set of sockets...

Chrome. If you cannot find half a cubic foot of space for a second socket set, how are are you going to find space for an air compressor and an impact?? Besides, chrome sockets fit into places that even thin walled impact socket will not.

Snap-on FLF80 - use all the time or hardly at all?

I never use mine. For some reason, I have never been able to get used to a floppy flex head. That is strange since I use my go-to Matco locking flex ratchet in the unlocked position 85% of the time.

Anyone have feedback from snapon since..

What really annoys me is how HF ratchets are stamped 'Pittsburgh' stamped on it. Are they forged in Pennsylvania or just assembled there from global components??

Would you buy USA Craftsman Industrial from value viewpoint?

Probably not. I do not have much confidence in the Craftsman's brand. The industrial tool market is brutal. I feel that Craftsman would go back to their old tactics of trying to lower costs by cutting quality or moving production overseas.

    Best Hand Tools

My favorite hand tool would have to be a stubby Matco 88 ratchet (BFR58FT). I cannot count how many times that it has saved me.

    found a cornwell truck

While I have never owned a Cornwell ratchet, all my MAC and Matco ball and dent flex ratchets started out really firm (tough to move with one hand) and have worn really nice. I wouldn't worry about it and enjoy the new ratchet. I wish I could find a Cornwell truck.

Give a real life example of how a premium brand screwdriver worked better

About 3 years ago, I broke my finger when an Autocraft 3/8 universal broke. It was on a rusted differential fill plug, and I probably only had 40 to 60 lbs on it when it snapped. A Matco one did it without the drama. Any money I saved by buying the $6 Autocraft tool set was lost on the copay.

    Dual Position Extensions

Matco makes really nice ones. But, yea, I cannot stand wobble extensions. The 2% of the time they are helpful isn't worth me tripping over them the other 98% of the time.

Danaher selling off apex tool group?

Hey! We could buy it. $1.4 billion divided by 18,209 active members is only $76,885.06 per person. What do you think??

    Kobalt made by armstrong

I never understood the hate for Matco/Armstrong/Danaher. :dunno: Personally, i really like the Armstrong ratchets; they have a great 'click' and seem almost unbreakable. For some strange reason, fine tooth ratchets are GJ's golden tool this year. Next year, we will be questioning how often...

Matco 90T Reversible Ratcheting Combination Wrenches -A Quick Look

I have Matco set SGRRECLM12T, the ergonomic wrench set, and they are clearly stamped USA. I picked those up right before Christmas. I also have the stubbies, non-reversible, and XL zero offset Pro Swing ratcheting wrench sets, and ALL the pieces are stamped USA. Matco does sell ratcheting...

Matco 90T Reversible Ratcheting Combination Wrenches -A Quick Look

I think you guys are wrong: ONLY the 90T are made overseas. The regular Pro Swing ratcheting wrenches are still made in USA. I know everybody is expecting Matco to follow MAC example by moving their operation overseas; so far, Matco has done a really good job at keeping products domestic.
