    Cleaning old steel tools

    I second the above in regards to evaporust I use it on any smaller items or pieces with hard to reach areas. Let it soak for overnight or for a day and any rust will turn to a black film that can be easily removed.

    BFBOB - I attend many auctions and most allow for what is called absentee bidding by people who write down the item and what maximum amount they will go to. The auction house then will have their employees bid for said individual. I would assume that is what was occurring.

    MISSILE - That Hollands at auction in these parts would go for 60-90 depending on the people bidding that day. If you are keeping it i wouldn't hesitate going a little higher.

    Old Vise, Worth It?

    My two cents - If you want it as a keeper and it is mechanically sound buy it. Fix it up and restore if you want to or just take the rust off and put some BLO on it. You wont make any money most likely if you would attempt to resale it and its most likely overkill for most home applications but...

    Thoughts on these Vises
