I miss-worded. I meant to say, use thinset without the additive for those few tiles if it becomes a problem. You can dilute, so hopefully he will have enough, if not, he will be fine plain ol thinset.

Or you can just use regular thinset. Seriously doubt you will have problems with the few tiles. And yes, I just use a utility knife to clean up the grout lines. And yes, the longer you wait, the more proficient your profanity becomes.

We were all shoddy at some point. Everything is still holding strong. Don't worry, once it sets, you will be good, and if something does break, its not like you have to redo a whole floor. You replace one tile and go.

As far as tile durability. There is a link in my signature, where to this day, I have not seen any other flooring option, other than canadian concrete, be as durable as tile. OJ, you doing great. Yea tell me about the pains. I lay tiles more than you I am sure, I just have no choice sometimes...

Take a tile. Put some thinset on it and set it. Then see what effort it takes to remove. Tiles don't generally jump off on their own. If the surface is rough, i have a good bet you will be fine.

The best rails that I have ever had, that are worth their price, are the craftsman black plastic with the spring ball in them. It gets pricey to add all the little holders to fill up a full rail, but they stay in place. I'm no pro mechanic, but wrench on all my stuff, and some for my family...
