Screwdrivers for Working On Japanese Cars

Thanks for your post 4xdog, very informative ! I have a mix of "phillips" screwdrivers and always noticed the ones that had the more blunt taper fit the fasteners better. I hadn't heard of the jis design until now. I also have the craftsman set you linked and love em !

1st post. Looking for some info on a Kobalt rachet

( I like Kobalt better than the Craftsman they carry now ) Ditto SILVERPLATE ! Just about the time kobalt got really decent quality...enter chineese craftsman and practically pushed out the Kobalt tools. There ratchets were my favorite, very smooth and great feel and finish.

    K Mart Tools

K Mart was my favorite store also back in the 70's, couldn't afford much more than that. I have recently picked up a few pieces from the flea market. The Japan made tools were pretty decent quality. Notice the K wouldn't fit on the raised panel.

Bessy, is the suburban in your avatar yours ? I like those old mowers.

School me on these odd shaped combo wrenches

The trick to that design to work properly is the wrench has to be at an almost perfect angle, if its off just a little it wont grip or it slips off the fastener. I have the craftsman set and like the longer length when I use the box end.
