What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I turned my cluttered 2 car garage into a cluttered 3 car garage for the upcoming ice storm.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I picked up some knuckles from the salvage yard to upgrade my front brakes. I also decided to buy my own ball joint press instead of renting one from the local auto parts store. I didn't realize how large the Icon press was going be until I opened it. It's a lot larger than the OEM Tools press...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I put pads and rotors on the wife's SUV, then put a rear sway bar on my project car.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I've spent some time trying to dress up the exterior on my project car. It has a single stage paint job that one of the previous owners probably did in their driveway. It probably didn't look too bad at one time, but the car had been parked outside for years and was rarely washed by the time...

Is diesel the best degreaser? and if the answer is no, why do you like being wrong?

I haven't tried diesel yet. I mostly use kerosene or naptha.

I know this ISN'T Candlepower Forums, but I know there are flashlight fans here.

I haven't paid much attention to flashlights in several years and only recognized a few brands in the test. Brands like Nitecore, JETBeam, Fenix and Sunwayman made good stuff and didn't exaggerate the rated lumens. It looks like Sunwayman is no longer in business, which is a shame. *edit*...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I got the A/C functioning in my project car only to find out that it works intermittently. It seemed to work less on hotter days, so I pulled the climate control to investigate. It looks like the solder joints failed on the PCB. The switch that selects the fan speed setting also burned up...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Yeah, no kidding! Her water bowl is maybe 20 steps away on the patio, but I guess she couldn't be bothered.

That looks like our house pretty much every day. They de-stuff their plushy toys within minutes of receiving them.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I changed the timing belt, water pump, pulleys, tensioner and serpentine belt on my wife's Pilot yesterday. I got it all done in about 6 hours, which I thought was pretty good for a home gamer. Next weekend it'll get new pads and rotors all around and then this car should be good for awhile.

    Music sources in the garage

I bought a cheap ~$150 Vizio soundbar with powered subwoofer for my 700 sq ft garage and play music either through Bluetooth from my phone, or through the TV/Roku that I have on the bench. It's barely loud enough for my small garage. At some point I'll hardwire some speakers into the ceiling and...

    Icon Tool chest.

I wish Icon would still make the 36" tool cabinet. I think they stopped carrying it right before I bought my 56" box. I wouldn't mind having one now after I've started to outgrow the main box.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I got some more work done on the old Civic. The power steering pump was leaking a bit at the seal behind the pulley so it was rebuilt with OEM seals, a new bearing and some new fasteners. The A/C stopped working this past fall after I got the car running. There was a leak at one of the...

    Failed Anti-Drain Back Valve?

I was changing the oil on one of my older Honda 4 cylinder engines where the oil filter mounts sideways (parallel to the ground). Normally, quite a bit of oil dumps down the side of the block when the filter is removed. This time nothing came out of the filter. I held the filter upside down and...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Our dogs definitely aren't that well behaved. They would snatching them out of my hand before I could set them down.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I finally got my daily driver back on the road after being on jack stands for 5 months. What started as just a timing belt, water pump and power steering feed line replacement turned into a whole lot more once I started digging into it. 3 new motor mounts 1 new transmission mount Power steering...

    Show your new tool arrivals

I'm building a small subwoofer box to hide in my trunk, so I had to buy some new tools. Ratcheting crimpers and heat shrink tubing for wire ferrules. Digital protractor and angle gauge purchased from McMaster-Carr. A budget friendly Skil table saw with a 10" Diablo 60T blade and a...

    How to remove this c-clip?

I haven't tried any pliers yet. Thanks for the ideas. It gives me something to search for that might work. It's a stiff little *******. I can't even get it started. As soon as I try to put any force on it, either the tool slips or the c-clip spins on the shaft.

    How to remove this c-clip?

I'm taking my power steering pump apart to replace the leaky o-rings and seals. I'm stuck trying to remove this c-clip. I have an assortment of small flat head screwdrivers and picks, but I can seem to get anything under or behind it to pry it off. Is there a special tool to spread the ends apart?
