    Retractable casters for 600lb+ press

I have an old Nugier H40 (40 ton) press that is a bear to move. When I moved from my old garage into new, it took me, my brother and my brother's teenage son to deal with it. Nugier's sheet says shipping weight is 622lb. We kind of just shoved it into a spot in the garage without much...

Can you use a brake parts washer for general use?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but when I purchased my previous garage, I got lots of equipment with it, as the previous owner didn't want to move a bunch of stuff. One of those things was an Ammco 1350 Brake Parts Washer. This is a lightweight plastic contraption on wheels, and from reading...

    Finishing my 50x40

Little over 11 years ago I bought a stand alone garage... about a month before my first son was born https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/my-new-garage.224723/ It was great to have the space, and equipment, but being off-site really limited how much I could use it, very hard to just go...

    10k ALI lift options

I know this topic gets discussed to death, but I guess we all have a little different needs/expectations, and things do change over time. I built a new 50x40 about a year and a half ago, but have been waiting to sell a previous off-site garage to finish the new one.. and that's under contract...

Thinking of building a garage, but where to start? (Central, NC)

So here's a fun thread. Back in 2013 I bought a decent size garage (see link in signature) that's off-site, a couple miles from the house. It's an older concrete block building, and the previous owner left me a bunch of nice equipment, including lift, 80gal compressor, couple of parts washers...

    Garage door opener advice

Hi all! Been a while since I’ve been active here. Life gets in the way! Anyway, I’m looking at getting new garage door openers. I have 2 single width solid wood doors, currently operated by Genie “pro88” 1/3hp screw drive, pre-rolling code units. They function fine as far as opening and...

Recomend me a plug gap gauge/guage/gage

Only gap gauge I have right now is one of those spiral cut things from Wal-Mart, that I can't imagine is REALLY accurate within a .001". Show me your preferences here. I tried doing a search but didn't turn up anything useful.

Garage door opener safety sensor malfunction

One of my garage door openers won't close remotely because the obstruction sensor at the bottom seems to think it's obstructed. nothing has bumped these to misalign or anything. Anything I can easily do to trouble shoot this?

    Compressor oil capacity

Hi All, I have this Kobalt 80 gal 3 cyl single stage compressor. I want to put Amsoil compressor oil in it, but have to order the oil and can't find capacity anywhere in the owner's manual, they just say fill until it's full. Any ideas what the capacity is?

Help me ID a model # for this Craftsman tool box

My saga continues with my "new" facebook find toolbox. Was checking out the Craftsman site to see about some parts (actually was just looking to see if I can get a new badge for it), but they can only look up based on model #. The sticker in the drawer is missing, and apparently there's...

Please help! Locked out of toolbox

So I got the 41" craftsman box mentioned on other threads here.. I decided to swap the lock out of my old toolbox since they are the same style. As soon as I pulled the cylinder out of my new box the lock dropped into place.. I can't rotate the rod to unlock it, even got the new cyl in, and I...

Parts and paint for Craftsman/Waterloo 41"

So on my other thread I was discussing getting this 41" Craftsman for $150. I went for it, it's overall in nice shape especially considering the price, a few things I was hoping to do for it. 1) I didn't remember to ask for the key, and guessing based on the age that the seller didn't have it...

41" Craftsman box, is this a good way to go?

This box came up on a facebook group recently. I have an agreement to buy it @$150. He says it's 41" wide and 41" tall, the "wide" drawers are about 24". My current box has 4 drawers that are that width (but deeper). I've always wished I had more shallow drawers so this seems like a good way...

    Dial indicator and base

Hi All, I'm thinking it would be handy to have a dial indicator or 2 and a magnetic base for things like checking wheel, and brake rotor true etc. I've used Starrett and Mitutoyo at work, but would like something a little more budget friendly for home use. Based on a search here it seems...

balance spline drive knock off wheels

Does anyone have experience balancing knock-off spline drive wheels? Have always had an issue getting the ones on my Jag done. Since I now have a wheel balancing machine and the Jag I figured I should learn to do this myself. Can you put a cone in each side, or do I need some sort of special...

    Snap-On Engine Analyzer

This popped up on a local Craigslist for $150... says everything works, but description is in really poor English, really not sure what all it does, or even what questions to ask about it. Seems like it's worth $150 just for the decoration value in a garage, but does anyone know more about these?

Block retaining wall ; what are these plates?

My garage lot is surrounded (all 4 sides, except an opening for the driveway) with a concrete block retaining wall. one side has these plates with large nuts, seem like some sort of reinforcing structure, but only on one side. Any idea what these are for?

    Lift service

Well I got a response from Eagle regarding the issue I had with my safety catch, and that looks like a simple fix. I also asked about getting my lift checked out since it's about 5 years old, and I don't have any history on it. One of their installers quoted me $190 to check it and make any...

Eagle 9k lift doesn't engage safety lock

Was put a car on my lift for the first time today, and noticed that the safety lock on one side didn't engage. When I've inspected the lift before both sides did work, so I'm not sure what changed. Pulling the cable on the non engaging side it seems like it's spring loaded correctly, but when...

    Compressor oil vs engine oil

OK I can't believe this hasn't been discussed before, but I did not find anything in search. I want to change the oil in my new-to-me compressor. They say 10W30 compressor oil. I don't have any compressor oil but do have various auto engine oil laying around. Is there any reason to go buy...
